How many fetal movements per hour is normal?

Feeling your baby's slight movements in your belly for the first time is a critical milestone in your pregnancy. The number, speed, and height of fetal movements are a reflection of the health of the fetus. At different times during pregnancy, the frequency and intensity of fetal movements vary. So, how many times is it normal for the baby to move?

Normal fetal movement is ≥10 times within 2 hours, which is normal, and <10 times within 2 hours is abnormal. If the count is less than 5 times in 1 hour, the pregnant woman may be asked to count again. If the check is normal, it is ok. If the fetal movement is less than 5 times per hour, the pregnant woman is required to go to the hospital for a physical examination in time.

Initially, fetal movements began to occur at 7-8 weeks of pregnancy. But at this time the pregnant mother cannot feel it, and can only observe the various postures of the fetus in the uterus through B-ultrasound. When pregnant for four or five months, the pregnant mother can feel the baby's fetal movement, but the number of fetal movements that can be felt at this time is still very small, and the intervals between fetal movements are also longer. By the 28th week of pregnancy, the fetus will gradually develop a regular schedule, and the number of fetal movements will become relatively stable. Under normal circumstances, at 28 weeks of pregnancy, the frequency of fetal movement is about 30-40 times within 12 hours. The fetus has its own sleep pattern, so the height and frequency of fetal movements during the day and night vary to a certain extent. The frequency is less in the morning, increases after 6 pm, and is most active between 8 and 11 pm.

In addition, the frequency of baby's fetal movement is affected by many factors. Some pregnant mothers will find that when they are busy, the frequency of fetal movement will be relatively low; and when they sit down to relax, the number of fetal movements will increase significantly. It should be noted that the height and frequency of fetal movements vary greatly from person to person. Some fetuses may move more than 100 times within 12 hours, while others may only move 30-40 times. However, as long as the baby's fetal movements are regular, rhythmic, and the change curve is not large, it means that the baby's development is normal.
