What should I do if there is still no sign of pregnancy after 5 days of due date?

When a pregnant woman reaches her due date, it means that the baby is about to be born, but very few pregnant women give birth on the due date because the due date is only an approximate time. Therefore, when the due date is over, many people will be anxious and wonder what went wrong. So what should I do if the due date has not yet arrived?

What should I do if my due date has not yet been reflected?

Many pregnant women suffer from this situation, and the baby still does not move even after the due date. What should I do if the due date is exceeded? In fact, it is normal for pregnant women to give birth within half a month before or after the due date. If a baby is born between 24 and 36 weeks of pregnancy, it is considered a premature baby, and if it is born after 42 weeks of pregnancy, it is considered a delayed birth.

If a pregnant woman has already passed her due date but has not yet shown any signs of labor, she must pay attention to the following:

1. Don't be too anxious and pay attention to the baby's fetal movements. Once the fetal movement is less than 3 times per hour or less than 20 times within 12 hours, or the fetal movement becomes weak, you need to go to the hospital for further examination immediately. The doctor will decide the time for the pregnant woman to give birth based on the situation.

2. Conduct another pregnancy check-up and give the doctor the results of early pregnancy tests (such as B-ultrasound, blood tests, pregnancy tests, etc.) and the time and results of the baby's fetal movement, so that the doctor can check the number of weeks of pregnancy again.

3. Increase pregnancy checkups, shorten the checkup intervals, keep in touch with the doctor at any time, inform the doctor of the baby's fetal movement in the uterine cavity, and also perform B-ultrasound to follow up the amniotic fluid flow. If no abnormalities are found, you can become pregnant again under close monitoring.

If the delivery date is delayed beyond 14 days, which is what clinical medicine calls post-term pregnancy, the embryo of some pregnant women will become fragile and the fetus will suffer from lack of oxygen and suffocation, which will cause great harm to the child and you should go to the hospital immediately to take effective measures.

What is the key calculation method for the birth date?

1. Calculate based on the expected date of delivery

Add 9 or subtract 3 from the month of the expected date of delivery to get the month of delivery; add 7 to the day of delivery to get the day of delivery. For example: the last menstrual period was February 1, 1985, time 1 7, month 2 9, due date = November 8 (1985)

The due date of pregnancy is April 15, 1985, time 15 July, month 4-3, due date = January 22 (86)

2. Calculate based on the baby's fetal movement date

If you can't remember your due date, you can calculate it based on the baby's fetal movement time. Generally, fetal movement begins between 18 and 20 weeks of pregnancy. The calculation method is: for primiparas, it is the day the baby moves plus 20 weeks; for multiparas, it is the day the baby moves plus 22 weeks.

3. Calculate based on the ovulation temperature curve

The last day of the ultra-low temperature section of the ovulation temperature curve is taken as the ovulation period, and the ovulation period is counted back 264-268 days from the ovulation period, or 38 weeks.

4. Calculate based on B-ultrasound examination

When doctors do B-ultrasound examinations, they can measure the biparietal diameter of the fetal head, the brachiocephalic diameter and the femur length to estimate the gestational age and calculate the date of delivery (this method is mostly used by doctors for B-ultrasound examinations to confirm the diagnosis).

5. Calculate from the time when morning sickness begins

Morning sickness usually occurs on the 6th week of pregnancy, which is 42 days after the expected date of delivery, and then counting backwards to 280 days is the due date.

6. Roughly estimate based on the height of the uterine fundus

If you can't remember your due date, you can estimate it based on the height of the uterine fundus. At the end of April, the height of the uterus is between the navel and the upper edge of the toes (10 cm above the ischial tuberosity); at the end of May, the base of the uterus is 2 horizontal fingers below the navel (16-17 cm above the toes); at the end of June, the base of the uterus is level with the navel (19-20 cm above the toes); at the end of July, the base of the uterus is three horizontal fingers above the navel (22-23 cm above the toes); at the end of August, the base of the uterus is between the sternum and the navel (24-25 cm above the pubic area); at the end of September, the base of the uterus is 2 horizontal fingers below the sternum (28-30 cm above the toes; at the end of the tenth month, the height of the uterine fundus returns to the height of eight months, but the fetal abdominal circumference is larger than that of eight months.

Expert opinion: The due date is only an estimate of the time of delivery and is not very accurate. Only a handful of pregnant women give birth on the due date, so there is no need to worry too much. Generally speaking, it is normal for pregnant women to give birth within half a month before or after the due date.
