Can hemorrhage kill people?

Hemorrhage is commonly known as heavy bleeding. This situation is very critical. If it is not treated immediately, it will endanger life and may increase the mortality rate. Therefore, as long as you find yourself having symptoms of hemorrhage, you should go to the hospital for emergency treatment immediately. Generally speaking, before this situation occurs, the patient will feel dizzy and flushed, the color of the blood will also appear dark red, and the surface of the tongue will be a little yellow.

Acute hemorrhage suitable for acupuncture treatment can be divided into the following three types:

(1) Qi deficiency: sudden and violent bleeding of light color and thin texture, pale or puffy complexion, drowsiness and fatigue, shortness of breath and more bleeding when moving, and a thin or weak pulse. The tongue is plump and tender with tooth marks, and the tongue coating is thin, moist or greasy.

(2) Blood heat: sudden bleeding like metrorrhagia, dark red blood, dizziness, red face, irritability, thirst, slippery and rapid or stringy and rapid pulse, yellow tongue coating.

(III) Blood stasis: Bleeding is continuous and sudden, with blood clots. The blood is dark purple in color. There is pain in the lower abdomen that is resistant to pressure. The pulse is deep and tight. The tongue is dark red, and petechiae can be seen on the edge of the tongue tip.

Hemorrhage, also known as metrorrhagia or sudden hemorrhage, refers to an acute disease in which women suddenly have heavy vaginal bleeding outside their menstrual period. The name of the disease of metrorrhagia was first seen in "The Yellow Emperor's Classic of Internal Medicine": "The deficiency of yin and the conflict of yang are called metrorrhagia."

There are many causes of this disease. Some are due to excessive fatigue, qi deficiency and sinking, and loss of control; some are due to violent anger that damages the liver, the liver cannot store blood, and the menstrual blood flows indiscriminately, causing hemorrhage; it can also be due to excessive heat in the body, combined with heat evil or excessive consumption of spicy and dry foods, which accumulates heat and turns into fire, and heat forces the blood to flow and causes the disease; there is also residual blood after menstruation and childbirth, or due to external infection, internal injury, and internal blood stasis. If the bad blood is not removed, the new blood cannot return to the menstruation, causing metrorrhagia.

"The Classic of Acupuncture and Moxibustion, Volume 11" records the method of acupuncture treatment: "Zhongxi is the main point for the pain in the upper and lower abdomen caused by metrorrhagia." The Tang Dynasty's "Prescriptions for Emergencies Worth a Thousand Gold Pieces" further clarified the location of treatment points, the depth of acupuncture, and the number of moxibustion treatments; the "Zhenjiu Zisheng Jing" compiled nearly twenty acupoints for treating metrorrhagia, and the Ming Dynasty's "Zhenjiu Dacheng" made further developments on the causes of diseases and acupoints.

Severe cases of functional uterine bleeding in modern Western medicine are similar to this syndrome.
