Different sleeping positions at different stages of pregnancy

Change your sleeping position! Never force yourself to stay in the same position all night. Change positions frequently and make it comfortable.

Early pregnancy: optional. In the early stages of pregnancy, the uterus has not grown much and the fetus is still small, so you can sleep however you want, but sleeping on your stomach is not recommended.

Second trimester: Side-lying position is recommended. During this period, you should pay attention to protecting your abdomen and avoid direct external force. If your lower limbs feel heavy, you can lie on your back for a while, but use pillows to slightly elevate your lower limbs.

Late pregnancy: Do not lie on your back. It is not recommended to lie on your back during this period. If your left side feels uncomfortable, lie on your right side.

Benefits of sleeping on the left side during pregnancy

4. Correct the position of the uterus. After six weeks of pregnancy, the uterus begins to enlarge and, affected by other organs in the pelvic cavity, the uterus will rotate to the right. Uterine rotation will affect the blood supply to the uterus itself and cause fetal intrauterine hypoxia. Sleeping on the left side during pregnancy can avoid or correct right rotation of the uterus, improve the fetal oxygen supply in the uterus, and be more conducive to fetal growth and development. It is of great significance to reduce the birth of low-birth-weight babies and reduce perinatal mortality.
