What causes symphysis pubis pain?

1. Acute pelvic fractures, pubic fractures, ligament lacerations, etc. caused by trauma, traffic accidents, etc. When a person standing on one leg with weight suddenly slips or falls and one side of the buttocks hits the ground, the recoil of the ground and the body weight interact with each other, as well as the direct external violence acting on the pubic symphysis, are not enough to cause pubic fractures, excessive splits and lateral splits, local contusions, etc.

These may cause the distance between the pubic symphysis to widen or increase, or to shift up and down, resulting in clinical symptoms such as pubic symphysis separation, and in some cases, pubic symphysis chondritis. However, symphysis pubis separation is rarely caused by external force alone.

2. Before delivery, the relaxation of the pubic symphysis ligament due to the influence of endocrine factors is an internal factor for the occurrence of this disease. In the later stages of pregnancy, the weight of the fetus presses on the pelvis, causing the pubic symphysis to separate. Or during delivery, if the labor is too long, the fetus is too large, or the delivery is rough, the loose pubic symphysis ligaments may be damaged. After delivery, the pubic symphysis cannot return to its normal position and separates.

What to do if the pubic symphysis is separated

1. Actively participate in physical exercise to enhance muscle and ligament tension.

2. During pregnancy, you can do some thigh flexion and extension exercises, but avoid large-scale movements of the waist and hips and other strenuous exercises.

3. If a pelvic joint suffers from tuberculosis, rheumatism or other diseases, you should wait until you are cured before becoming pregnant.

4. Nutrition during pregnancy should be moderate to prevent the fetus from having pubic separation during delivery due to an overly large fetal head.

What to do if you have symphysis pubis pain

Massage manipulation is an effective treatment for this disease, which can often achieve immediate results. Combined with proper bed rest, the condition can be quickly recovered.

(1) Massage the lumbar spine

The patient lies prone, and the doctor first uses the thumb to massage the Ba Liao, Bai Huan Shu, Zhi Bian, Huan Tiao and other acupoints, and then uses massage, pressing, rolling and other techniques to treat the sacroiliac area for 3 to 5 minutes, and pushes, massages and pats the lumbar sacral tissues until heat is achieved.

(2) Massage to relax

The patient lies prone, and the doctor first rubs the Zhongji, Qugu and other acupoints with his thumb, then rubs the pubic symphysis for 1 to 2 minutes, and the starting point of the adductor muscles for 1 to 2 minutes, and then pinches the quadriceps and rubs the vastus medialis muscles to fully relax the local soft tissue.

(3) Traction reduction

1. The patient lies on his back, and the doctor presses the lower part of the pubic bone on the healthy side with one foot, holds the bare part of the affected lower limb with both hands, and coordinates the hands and feet to push up and pull down suddenly at the same time to restore the position.

2. The patient lies in supine position, and the doctor holds the patient's bare feet with both hands. After the patient's legs are bent at the hips and knees and externally rotated and abducted, the doctor suddenly uses both hands to internally rotate and straighten the legs to reposition them.
