What to do if pregnant woman has stomach upset

The gastrointestinal motility of expectant mothers will weaken after pregnancy. Eating too nutritious or slightly cold food will cause diarrhea symptoms. Long-term and frequent diarrhea cannot be treated with medication, so the mother will be very painful. In addition, when having diarrhea, the mother needs to exert force to defecate continuously, which will cause fetal movement disorder, which makes expectant mothers feel very anxious. Regarding diarrhea in pregnant women, the factors need to be judged first, and then adjusted to slowly recover.

Why do pregnant women have diarrhea?

Pregnant women have a special physique. During pregnancy, their body resistance decreases, their estrogen levels change, and their dietary structure changes. These factors can cause diarrhea in pregnant women. Besides this, there are some other reasons.

1. Infectious factors

Pregnant women often feel tired, and their body resistance and immunity will be reduced, making it easy for many viruses and bacteria to take advantage of the situation and invade. If the digestive tract is infected by bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Salmonella, or rotavirus, echovirus, etc., uncomfortable symptoms such as abdominal pain, diarrhea, and vomiting will occur.

2. Dietary factors

During pregnancy, women's moods fluctuate greatly, their appetites also change, and they are prone to eating irregularities. Sometimes my appetite increases; sometimes my appetite decreases; sometimes I crave raw and cold food; sometimes I want to eat whole grains. Such eating habits can easily lead to gastrointestinal discomfort and cause diarrhea. In addition, some pregnant women may also suffer from diarrhea if they eat allergic foods such as seafood.

3. Chronic disease factors

If a pregnant woman suffers from colitis, tumor, or enteritis, she is more likely to suffer from diarrhea during pregnancy.

4. Environmental factors

During pregnancy, the peristalsis of the small intestine of women slows down and is easily disturbed by external factors. When the abdomen gets cold, intestinal motility speeds up abnormally, gastrointestinal discomfort occurs, and diarrhea is likely to occur. Therefore, pregnant women should pay close attention to temperature changes and not let their abdomen get cold.

Symptoms of diarrhea in pregnant women

People usually call diarrhea "diarrhea", which is a common symptom in people's daily life. Due to the special characteristics of their own bodies, pregnant women tend to attract more attention when they have diarrhea symptoms. Generally, diarrhea in pregnant women has the following three symptoms. Only when these three symptoms exist at the same time can it be called diarrhea in pregnant women.

1. Increased bowel movement frequency

When a pregnant woman has diarrhea, she goes to the bathroom to defecate much more frequently than usual. If it happens more than twice a day, you should be careful.

2. Changes in stool shape

When pregnant women have diarrhea, the shape, color, and smell of their stool will change. The stool will become very thin, and pus, blood, mucus, and food residues may be seen in the stool. If a pregnant woman eats greasy food, fat will float in the toilet. Usually the feces will appear as yellow liquid or green sticky frozen state, accompanied by a foul odor, and is easy to observe.

3. Abdominal pain, anal discomfort, etc.

Pregnant women often experience abdominal pain, burning pain in the anus, urgency when defecating, and even incontinence when having diarrhea.
