Weakness in the waist and knees, fatigue, poor appetite, bloating in the flanks and abdomen, loose stools, dizziness and tinnitus, palpitations and shortness of breath, thin white tongue coating, fat tongue with teeth marks, and deep, thin and weak pulse. The treatment should be to replenish qi and nourish blood, harmonize the collaterals and relieve pain. The prescription is Bazhen Decoction combined with Taohong Siwu Decoction with modifications. Qi stagnation and blood stasis

Abdominal pain and waist pain before or during menstruation, distension and pain in the lower abdomen that is resistant to pressure, distension and pain in the chest and flanks, irregular menstruation, dark purple lumps, pain and salty sensation under the lumps, normal cycles and menstrual volume, thin tongue coating, dark ecchymosis, and a stringy pulse. The treatment is aimed at regulating qi and activating blood circulation, removing blood stasis and relieving pain. The prescriptions selected are Chaihu Shugan San and Taohong Siwu Decoction with modifications. The medicinal ingredients used are bupleurum, cyperus rotundus, curcuma, Chuanlianzi, angelica, Chuanxiong, peach kernel, safflower, raw rehmannia, white peony root, eucommia, luffa, and cooked rehmannia.

Cold and dampness stagnation

During or before and after menstruation, there is unbearable cold pain in the lower abdomen, which is relieved by heat. The complexion is pale, cold sweats occur profusely, nausea and vomiting occurs, the body is cold and the limbs are cold, the menstrual volume is scanty, dark purple in color with clots, the urine is clear and long, the tongue coating is thin white, and the pulse is deep and thin or deep and tight. Experts from Shenzhen Far East Women's and Children's Hospital pointed out that the treatment should be to warm the meridians and dispel cold, resolve blood stasis and relieve pain, and the prescription selected was Danggui Sini Decoction with added ingredients, including cinnamon twig, dried ginger, cinnamon bark, asarum, processed aconite, angelica, white peony root, licorice, akebia, mugwort, fennel, cyperus rotundus, Toosendan fruit, and Ligusticum chuanxiong.
