How to recover from postpartum rectal prolapse

How to recover from postpartum rectal prolapse

There are two common ways of childbirth for women, one is caesarean section and the other is natural birth. No matter which way it is, it will cause certain damage to women's bodies. Some women will also have rectal prolapse due to childbirth. When the rectum prolapses, it is very harmful to women's bodies, which will seriously interfere with women's defecation function and steel pipe function. So how to recover from rectal prolapse after childbirth?

For patients with rectocele, early detection is the key to prevention, and early treatment is the most important. Patients need to go to the hospital for treatment in time to effectively control the disease. At the same time, in normal life, the dietary needs of patients with rectal prolapse must be met.

1. Non-surgical treatment is mainly dietary therapy, with a daily intake of 20-30g of insoluble fiber and 2000-3000ml of drinking water per day, making sure to drink 1000ml in the morning. Eat more vegetables and fruits and increase physical activity. Take laxatives if necessary. The above conditions can usually control the patient's symptoms. It is worth noting that continuous or gradual increase in nutritious diet and drinking enough water in the morning are the key to treatment and must be adhered to. Pressure from the patient's own fingers on the posterior vaginal wall can also be used as a treatment to help with defecation, particularly in patients who are not good candidates for surgical repair.

2. Surgical treatment considers the following as indications for surgery:

(1) A feeling of a lump or swelling in the vagina, which requires manual assistance to induce a bowel movement;

(2) Defecography shows a rectocele > 3–4 cm, with barium remaining in the rectocele more than half of the time.

(3) The rectoceles are huge, accompanied by prolapse of the anterior rectal wall.
