What is wet nipples?

Both men and women have nipples. It’s just that because women need to breastfeed their offspring, nipples have practical uses. But this also increases the chances of nipple disease. Mastitis is a common breast and nipple disease. So, what does it mean when your nipples are wet? If you are not pregnant, it is recommended that you see a doctor.

The nipple, also called the teat, is the cylindrical protruding part in the center of the mammal's breast. It is harder than the areola and breast. Human female nipples are important erogenous zones that have the function of lactation. The nipple is composed of dense smooth muscle and connective tissue. Smooth muscles are arranged in circular or radial patterns. When sexually or mechanically stimulated, the smooth muscles contract, causing the nipples to become hard and protrude.

Inverted nipple is a common female breast deformity, with an incidence rate of 1% to 2%. The degree of nipple inversion varies from person to person. In mild cases, the nipple may only be flat or retracted to varying degrees, and may bulge or be squeezed out after stimulation. In severe cases, the nipple is completely sunken into the areola and cannot be pulled out, forming a crater shape, and is often accompanied by secretions or odor.

Before puberty, girls' nipples will bulge out separately. After this, the nipple and breast develop into a small hillock. As the breasts grow larger, the nipple and areola become more prominent and enlarged within the breast outline. When nipples reach the mature stage, most people's nipples protrude outward.

The nipples of unmarried women and women without children are relatively small. Only after pregnancy, when the breasts and nipples are affected by the estrogen and progesterone in the pregnant woman's body, the mammary alveoli and mammary ducts proliferate, do the nipples gradually increase in size and become more protruding, preparing for feeding the child. A normal nipple is a cylindrical protrusion with a hole, about 1 cm in diameter, about 1.5-2 cm in height, and dark in color.
