Reasons for decreased hcg

Reasons for decreased hcg

Normal pregnant women will go to the hospital regularly for prenatal check-ups. A prenatal check-up can not only show the growth of the baby in the belly, but also effectively detect whether there are any diseases in the body. Among them, hcg is a glycoprotein produced only in pregnant women's bodies because it is mainly secreted by the placenta. The hcg value test can also effectively observe the baby's activity in the belly. If the hcg value decreases, what is the cause?

1. Reasons for the decrease of hcg

When a woman becomes pregnant, her blood hCG value will continue to rise. If the blood hCG drops, it is likely that the pregnant woman's nutrition is unbalanced during this period, and the embryo is poorly developed due to lack of nutrients. After three months of mild symptoms, the progesterone level will rise on its own.

2. What is the normal value of hcg?

The HCG examination methods are different and the reference values are also different. The reference value of some examination hospitals is 0-10mIU/ml. If it does not exceed the reference value, it means that you are not pregnant.

The normal HCG value is less than 5, which is currently the most accurate method to test whether you are pregnant. If the test result is less than 5, it means you are not pregnant. If the value is greater than 100, it means you are pregnant. You can go to the hospital for testing to draw a conclusion.

3. How much hcg in the blood will cause early pregnancy reaction

The early pregnancy reaction is not exactly the same for everyone and has little to do with the height of hcg. Generally, an hcg of 800 proves that you are pregnant. You must pay attention to rest. Don't do strenuous exercise during this period. You can eat a light diet and don't need to be too nervous.

Early pregnancy reactions have little to do with the amount of hCG. It can only be said that it is determined by personal constitution, so just let nature take its course. About two days after pregnancy, HCG doubles, and more than 800 is seen around 2 weeks of pregnancy. Avoid fatigue, pay attention to a balanced diet, do not have sex in the first 3 months of pregnancy, and supplement folic acid reasonably.

When should blood hcg be checked?

1. Confirm pregnancy - the earliest can be 8-10 days after intercourse

The best time to test hCG blood is 8-10 days after intercourse. At this time, the test can be used as a pregnancy test to confirm pregnancy. At the same time, in the first 3 months of pregnancy, this test can also be used to diagnose single or multiple pregnancies.

2. Abnormal pregnancy diagnosis - every 2 days

Measure whether the hCG content has doubled. After a woman becomes pregnant, an increase in the β-hCG value in the blood can be detected from the 9th to 11th day, and the β-hCG value can increase by 2 times every two days thereafter. If the test finds a slow increase for two consecutive times, it may be caused by factors such as ectopic pregnancy, abnormal embryo or intrauterine growth retardation.

If the abnormal pregnancy is a hydatidiform mole, the hCG concentration in the serum is much higher than the value in the corresponding month of a normal pregnancy. Therefore, this difference can be used as an auxiliary diagnosis of hydatidiform mole, which is usually performed in the first 3 months of pregnancy.

3. Down syndrome screening - 15-20 weeks of pregnancy

Down syndrome screening detects the levels of AFP and β-hCG in venous blood and comprehensively calculates the risk of the fetus having Down syndrome. The best time to do this test is between 15 and 20 weeks of pregnancy.

4. Determination of miscarriage: 4 days after delivery or 13 days after artificial abortion

Since the fetus has been delivered, the woman's blood hCG test should return to normal 4 days after delivery or 13 days after artificial abortion.
