Pure white and sticky vaginal discharge

Pure white and sticky vaginal discharge

The normal state of leucorrhea should be transparent, and some are sticky, without any other symptoms. However, some people are very worried that they have some problems because their leucorrhea is white and sticky. The sticky and purulent leucorrhea may be related to bacterial infection, such as cervical inflammation, endometritis, uterine fluid effusion, etc. It is also related to one's own resistance and immunity function.

Thick, purulent leucorrhea: mostly caused by bacterial infection, such as acute and chronic cervicitis, endometritis, pyometra and acute and chronic pelvic inflammatory disease. The leucorrhea is thick and purulent, and is grayish white, yellow or yellow-green in color, with a special fishy smell, and may cause lower abdominal, back pain or pain during sexual intercourse. Testing of the leucorrhea may reveal pathogenic bacteria.

After a girl reaches puberty, as her ovarian function improves, a milky white or transparent liquid will flow out of her vagina. The amount is sometimes more, sometimes less, and there is a regularity to it. This is leucorrhea, which has the function of keeping the vaginal mucosa moist.

Leucorrhea is composed of fluids secreted by many tissues, including mucus secreted by the paraurethral glands, Bartholin's glands, cervical glands and endometrial glands, and exudate from the capillaries and lymphatic vessels in the vaginal wall. The mixed mucus contains desquamated cells of the vaginal epithelium and a small amount of white blood cells, which form leucorrhea. To evaluate whether leucorrhea is normal, it is necessary to observe the quantity, color, texture and smell.

Normal leucorrhea should be milky white or colorless and transparent, with a slightly fishy smell or no smell; its secretion amount and texture are affected by the levels of estrogen and progesterone in the body, and vary periodically with the menstrual cycle, with varying amounts, textures and thicknesses.

Generally, the amount of leucorrhea is less after the menstrual period; before ovulation, due to the increase in estrogen levels in the body, the epithelial cells of the cervical glands are stimulated to proliferate, the secretion of cervical mucus increases, and the sodium chloride content in the mucus increases, which can absorb more water, causing the leucorrhea to increase during ovulation, and the texture is thin, clear in color, and looks like egg white, which can be stretched into long threads; after ovulation, estrogen levels gradually decrease, progesterone levels increase, the secretion of cervical mucus is inhibited, and the sodium chloride content in the mucus also decreases, making the leucorrhea at this time thick, milky white, with poor ductility, and easy to break when drawn.

The amount of leucorrhea secretion is closely related to sexual thoughts and sexual life. During the honeymoon and frequent sexual life, the secretion of leucorrhea will naturally increase.

In addition, there are also some physiological phenomena, such as women of childbearing age, pregnancy, and taking oral contraceptives, which can cause increased vaginal discharge. The cause is also related to changes in estrogen and progesterone levels in the body.

The leucorrhea secretion of menopausal women is sparse and thin. These are all normal.

If you experience abnormal vaginal discharge, such as an unexplained increase in discharge, or changes in color, texture, or odor, you should be alert and go to a regular hospital for examination immediately.

Leucorrhea, like menstruation, is a normal physiological manifestation of women. Some people regard leucorrhea as an obscene thing that should not be seen in public, and some married women regard normal leucorrhea as a disease and feel anxious and confused. These are all unnecessary.
