Mastitis is a very common breast disease in women. There are many causes of mastitis, which is generally caused by long-term blockage of the milk ducts or damage to the breasts after breastfeeding. Having mastitis can easily lead to some complications, and yellow milk is also a symptom of mastitis, which requires timely treatment, usually through medication.
Most cases of mastitis during lactation are caused by milk accumulation after delivery, which leads to blocked milk ducts and nipple infection and inflammation. You don’t have to worry too much about mastitis, but it must be treated in time. If the treatment of mastitis is delayed, it is likely to cause breast suppuration, damage to breast tissue, and even mastitis, and it may also turn into breast cancer. If a mother finds herself developing mastitis during breastfeeding, she can use the following treatments. 1. Apply local hot compress. This method is simple to operate and can effectively promote the discharge of milk without blockage. If female friends have obvious local swelling, they can use 25% magnesium sulfate for hot compress. At the same time, massage from the base of the breast to the nipple once every three to four hours for eight to ten minutes. Try to squeeze out the milk as much as possible. If it is difficult, you can use a breast pump. 2. Stop breastfeeding. In the early stages, even patients with mild symptoms should no longer breastfeed. 3. For chronic mastitis during lactation with a course of more than six to ten days, drugs such as intravenous penicillin can be used for systemic anti-inflammatory treatment, which usually cures within one to two weeks. 4. For female friends with breast abscesses, surgery can be used to make an incision and drain the pus. It usually heals within two weeks. 2. Can I eat yellow milk if I have mastitis? Lactational mastitis often occurs in women who give birth for the first time, and usually occurs 3 to 4 weeks after delivery. But mothers who have mastitis are very worried about the health of their babies. Because babies absorb nutrients through breast milk, we are worried about causing harm to the baby. Some mothers also find that their breast milk turns yellow during their illness. Can babies still eat yellow milk due to mastitis? In fact, there is no need to worry too much, because mastitis is caused by blockage of the milk ducts, so breastfeeding itself has no effect on the baby, and mothers can breastfeed with confidence. And even if the breast milk is yellow, it is still edible. There is only one prerequisite, that is, healthy babies can continue to be breastfed, because there are a large number of bacteria breeding in the mammary glands. The bacteria enter the baby's body through breast milk. If the baby has jaundice or poor resistance, it is easy to be infected. If mothers only have the disease on one side, they can use the other, healthy side to feed their baby. 3. Symptoms of mastitis during lactation 1. The initial symptoms of acute simple mastitis are mainly breast pain, local high skin temperature, tenderness, unclear nodules and tenderness. 2. In acute suppurative mastitis, the local skin becomes red, swollen, hot and painful, with obvious nodules and more tenderness. At the same time, the patient may experience chills, high fever, headache, weakness, rapid pulse and other general weakness. At this time, swollen lymph nodes may appear in the armpits, which are tender and the white blood cell count in blood tests may be elevated. In severe cases, sepsis may occur. 3. Abscess formation: Due to ineffective treatment measures or further aggravation of the disease, local tissues undergo necrosis and liquefaction, and infection foci of varying sizes fuse together to form abscesses. Abscesses may be unilocular or multilocular. Superficial abscesses are easy to detect, while deeper abscesses are less noticeable and difficult to detect. If the patient with mastitis has obvious systemic symptoms and local and systemic drug treatments are not effective, it is important to puncture the painful area and wait for pus to be extracted or white blood cells to be found in the smear to confirm the diagnosis of abscess. 4. Breast pain: Breast pain is accompanied by tenderness. These are manifestations of breast inflammation and are more common in acute mastitis and breast abscess. If there is local pain in the breast, it should be related to the menstrual cycle, which is generally more common in simple and cystic hyperplasia of the breast. 5. Breast lumps: Breast lumps are the main symptom of breast tumors. Breast lumps are also seen in breast tuberculosis, breast hyperplasia, etc. |
