Is cervical conization a major surgery?

Cervical conization is a surgical treatment in obstetrics and gynecology to remove the cervix, that is, to cut off a part of the cervical tissue in a cone-shaped shape. On the one hand, it facilitates pathological examination and confirms cervical lesions, and on the other hand, it is also a treatment method for removing lesions.

Clinical symptoms of cervical conization

Abnormal results: Cut off 12-25mm long and 18mm wide tissue for examination. If the puncture biopsy result is abnormal, further diagnosis or removal of abnormal tissue is required. Excision of lesions is usually performed in the following situations: (1) If cervical smear cytology examination repeatedly finds malignant germ cells, but cervical puncture biopsy or segmental curettage is negative, cervical conization should be performed for further diagnosis. (2) If a cervical puncture biopsy has confirmed cervical carcinoma in situ, or early infiltration is found under a microscope, in order to determine the scope of surgical treatment, a cervical conization can be performed first to remove cervical tissue for further pathological examination to establish the scope of the lesion and determine the scope of surgical treatment. (3) For patients with chronic cervicitis who do not respond well to conservative treatment, cervical conization can be performed. People who need to be checked: those with vulvar itching, burning discomfort, lower abdominal or lumbosacral pain, which worsens during sexual intercourse, menstruation and bowel movements. There are also people who have symptoms such as weakness in both lower limbs, bitter taste in the mouth, bad breath, nausea and vomiting, and extremely yellow urine.
