Can pregnant women have dental treatment?

Pregnant women pay great attention to their physical health during pregnancy, fearing that taking some medicines will affect the fetus in their belly. However, if dental problems occur during pregnancy, they still need to receive some treatment. However, they must follow the doctor's advice on taking medicines, otherwise it will cause unnecessary effects on the fetus in their belly and cause some conditions.

Nowadays, many pregnant women neglect to have dental examinations before pregnancy. Tooth caries and pulp diseases develop faster during pregnancy and eventually develop into acute diseases during pregnancy, causing great pain to pregnant women. So, what should we do when we encounter such acute symptoms? Can I receive treatment during pregnancy? It is generally believed that it is safe to see a dentist during pregnancy. However, in the early stages of pregnancy (1 to 12 weeks), the fetus' organs are in the development stage and are more sensitive to environmental stimuli. External stimuli will increase the risk of miscarriage. In the second half of the late pregnancy (after 28 weeks), the uterus is more sensitive to changes in the external environment, and stimulation will increase the risk of premature birth. Therefore, if it is not an emergency, treating dental disease in the second trimester (13-27 weeks) is a relatively good choice. It is best to have a comprehensive oral examination 6 months before pregnancy and cure oral diseases before pregnancy.

Ultrasonic supragingival scaling (commonly known as teeth cleaning) refers to the use of scaling instruments to remove supragingival tartar, plaque and color and polish the tooth surface to delay the re-deposition of plaque and tartar. However, because supragingival calculus is often connected to shallow subgingival calculus, professional teeth cleaning should also remove calculus within the gingival sulcus, that is, about 3 mm below the gingival margin. For deeper subgingival calculus, subgingival scaling is required later. Sandblasting teeth cleaning uses a special sandblasting tooth powder (with sodium bicarbonate powder as the main ingredient). It uses high pressure to mix water and biological sea salt and sprays it at a distance of 3mm from the tooth surface to achieve a cleaning effect. While removing smoke stains, tea stains, coffee and other beverages caused by pigmentation and soft plaque on the teeth, it can also polish the teeth and restore the natural luster of the teeth. Moreover, the biological sea salt in it has bactericidal and anti-inflammatory effects, and can more effectively eliminate gingivitis. It is currently the best and most comfortable method of teeth cleaning.

Green tea: The tea polyphenols it contains have a strong killing effect on pathogenic bacteria in the oral cavity. Catechins have antibacterial and deodorizing effects. They can inhibit the growth of oral bacteria and remove bad breath (sulfuric acid, methyl mercaptan, etc.). The chlorophyll, flavonoids and vitamin C contained in tea can prevent bad breath and clean the oral environment. Catechins can reduce dental plaque and inhibit the occurrence of caries and periodontitis. Honeysuckle: It has broad-spectrum antibacterial and antiviral effects: it has obvious inhibitory effects on Staphylococcus aureus, hemolytic Streptococcus, Shigella dysenteriae, Salmonella typhi, meningococci, Pneumococcus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and influenza virus. More than 70% of Chinese patent medicines for colds and anti-inflammatory diseases contain honeysuckle, which is known as "Chinese medicine antibiotic" and "green antibiotic". Stevia: As a sweetener: It is 30 times sweeter than sucrose, is not absorbed by the human body, has no calories, does not cause tooth decay, has the effect of inhibiting bacterial growth and replication, and can reduce the incidence of cold symptoms. It can be added to oral cleaning products to inhibit the growth of bacteria in the mouth.
