Cervical erosion is a relatively common gynecological disease, which causes many symptoms, including vulvar itching, low back pain, a feeling of heaviness in the lower abdomen, etc. If it is second-degree cervical erosion, it should be treated with prompt methods. There are many treatment methods, the most common ones are drug therapy, physical therapy, and surgical treatment, etc. Let us learn about this aspect below.
1. Drug treatment Drug treatment is mainly suitable for patients with smaller erosion area and shallower inflammatory infiltration (also applicable to cervical erosion of degree 2), and mainly uses drugs to apply to the erosion area (such as erosion suppositories). The principle is to destroy the columnar epithelium on the erosion surface, causing it to necrotize and fall off, thus creating conditions for new squamous epithelium to cover the surface. Its advantages are high safety and lack of risk of damaging the uterus, but the treatment course is long. 2. Physical therapy Physical therapy is the most commonly used treatment for cervical erosion grade 2. For example, laser, freezing, microwave, etc. can be used, which will show improvement after one or two times. It is suitable for patients with larger erosion area and deeper inflammatory infiltration. The principle is the same as that of drug treatment. The advantage of physical therapy is that it can protect the uterus well and prevent it from being damaged, but its cost is higher than that of drug treatment.
Surgical treatment is also suitable for patients with grade 2 cervical erosion, because mild cervical erosion can usually be cured by medication and physical therapy. However, surgery involves certain risks, and the chance of damaging the uterus is also relatively high. Therefore, many female friends will directly choose the first two treatment methods.
In addition to the symptoms of increased vaginal discharge, irregular vaginal bleeding, menstrual disorders, lower abdominal pain, etc., cervical erosion is most concerned about infertility. So does cervical erosion affect pregnancy? It can be said that there is a certain correlation between cervical erosion and infertility, but there is no absolute causal relationship. Generally speaking, cervical erosion often affects pregnancy in the following situations: 1. The cervical secretions increase and are mixed with a large number of white blood cells and pathogenic bacteria, which destroys the normal physiological environment of the vagina, limits the activity of sperm, and shortens the survival time; 2. The cervical mucosa proliferates due to inflammation, which may cause polyps to block the cervical opening, directly affecting the smooth passage of sperm; 3. Uterine mucus is thick and hinders the normal movement of sperm. The texture and amount of cervical mucus secretion are directly related to whether sperm can pass through the cervix and enter the uterine cavity. Under normal circumstances, during ovulation, under the action of estrogen, the cervical mucus has a higher water content and a thinner texture, which is conducive to the passage of sperm. When cervical erosion occurs, especially moderate or severe cervical erosion, cervical secretions will increase significantly, become viscous, and contain a large number of white blood cells, which will have an adverse effect on sperm motility and hinder sperm from entering the uterine cavity, thus affecting conception. |
