Can ginger cure dysmenorrhea?

Ginger is a widely used condiment. Because it is a warm food, it is often used to regulate the body and relieve various problems in the body. For example, ginger can be used to treat some women with dysmenorrhea. However, if you want to use ginger to achieve a good effect in treating dysmenorrhea, you still need to master certain methods. Soaking feet with mugwort and ginger, ginger water, angelica and ginger mutton soup, and fennel and ginger are all relatively reliable and effective methods.

1. Soak your feet in mugwort and ginger

Take 30 grams of mugwort, 100 grams of ginger, and 100 milliliters of white wine. Wash the moxa leaves and ginger, cut the ginger into thick slices, put them into a pot, add appropriate amount of water, boil for 30 minutes, remove the residue and take the juice, put it into a basin, pour in white wine, fumigate first and then soak your feet.

The temperature of the fumigation water should be around 90℃, but be careful to prevent burns. When the water temperature drops to around 40℃, immerse your feet in the water. The water should reach the ankle joints. While soaking your feet, rub the Yongquan acupoints, toes and heels on the soles of your feet.

Once a night, 20 to 30 minutes each time. Start soaking 7 days before menstruation and continue until the end of menstruation. This prescription has the effects of warming the meridians and dispelling cold, promoting blood circulation and relieving pain.

2. Ginger Water

1. Cook 3 grams of ginger powder, 1 spoon of brown sugar, and 30 grams of rice wine into porridge, which can relieve dysmenorrhea.

2. Take 30 grams each of dried ginger, red dates and brown sugar. Wash and slice the dried ginger, wash and remove the core of the red dates, and boil them together with brown sugar for consumption.

3. Cut 20 grams of ginger into shreds, add an appropriate amount of brown sugar, pour boiling water over it, cover it for 3 minutes, and drink it instead of tea while it is hot.

4. Take 5 slices of ginger, 5 dates, 15 grams of mugwort leaves, and an appropriate amount of brown sugar, and decoct them in water.

The reason why ginger water can have so many variations is actually the result of fully respecting individual differences. Each owner can choose the most suitable one according to his or her own preferences and physical condition.

For example, some people have a cold body and suffer from severe dysmenorrhea, but don’t like the strong taste of ginger. The third recipe is milder and you can increase the amount of brown sugar and drink it instead of tea.

Some people not only have cold body but also dampness, so they are more suitable for the fourth formula with added dates and mugwort.

3. Angelica and Ginger Lamb Soup

30 grams of angelica, 30 grams of ginger, and 500 grams of mutton. Put angelica and ginger into a casserole, add appropriate amount of water, then put the mutton cut into strips into the pot, bring to a boil, skim off the foam, and simmer over low heat for about 1.5 hours until the mutton is cooked through.

People who suffer from dysmenorrhea can also drink this soup in summer, which is nourishing and warming.

4. Fennel and ginger

Take 10 grams of fennel, add 3 slices of ginger, decoct in water and take in 2 doses. Start taking it 3-5 days before the menstrual period, 1 dose per day, take 3-5 doses in a row, and use it for 3-5 menstrual cycles.
