Menstruation has not ended for 8 days

Menstruation has not ended for 8 days

Women's menstruation is generally very regular, lasting about a week. The time will be affected by some factors, and it is normal to be advanced or postponed a few days. However, some women find that their menstruation is still not clean on the 8th day, and they are very worried that there is a problem with their menstruation. So, why does the menstruation not end after 8 days? Let’s take a look at the reasons below.

My period has not ended for 8 days. What's wrong?

The normal menstrual period is 3-7 days. If the menstrual period has not ended after 8 days and there is still brown menstrual blood, it is considered a prolonged menstrual period, which is an abnormal phenomenon. If combined with heavy menstrual flow or continuous irregular menstruation for half a month, it may turn into metrorrhagia and should be taken seriously.

Why is my period not over after eight days?

Blood disease causes prolonged menstruation

Such as thrombocytopenic purpura, aplastic anemia, etc., are often accompanied by severe uterine bleeding during menstruation and prolonged menstruation. Other chronic anemia, chronic hepatitis, cirrhosis, nephritis, etc. can make the blood vessel walls fragile and increase the permeability, resulting in prolonged bleeding time.

Gynecological inflammation caused

Pelvic inflammatory disease, endometritis, vaginitis, etc. can all cause brown discharge on the eighth day of menstruation. In addition, most of them are accompanied by increased menstrual flow, lower abdominal pain, lumbar pain, or abnormal increase in leucorrhea or red or yellow discharge.

Caused by diseases that cause uterine bleeding

Gynecological diseases such as corpus luteum atrophy, intrauterine polyps, uterine fibroids, etc. can all lead to uterine bleeding, among which cyclical bleeding is the most common, which can manifest as increased menstrual volume, prolonged menstrual period or shortened cycle. It may also present as irregular vaginal bleeding that is not related to the menstrual cycle.

Chronic uterine hypertrophy caused

Chronic uterine hypertrophy is caused by pelvic congestion and continuous increase of ovarian estrogen, which leads to thickening of the uterine muscle layer. It can cause prolonged menorrhagia, with menstrual bleeding still occurring on the eighth day of menstruation.

Caused by the ring

If the intrauterine device is not placed properly or for too long, it will stimulate uterine bleeding and cause prolonged menstruation. By the eighth day of menstruation, there will still be a small amount of brown blood.

Traditional Chinese Medicine: The reason why menstruation has not ended after eight days

The pathogenesis of this disease is mostly caused by Qi deficiency causing Chong and Ren meridians to fail to function properly; or heat disturbing Chong and Ren meridians causing restlessness in the blood sea; or blood stasis blocking Chong and Ren meridians causing blood to not flow through the meridians. Common clinical symptoms include qi deficiency, blood deficiency, and blood stasis.

Qi deficiency

Weak constitution, or unclean diet, fatigue, excessive thinking can damage the spleen, resulting in insufficient Qi, unstable Chong and Ren meridians, inability to control menstrual blood, and prolonged menstruation.

Blood heat

Yin deficiency in the body, or long-term illness that damages Yin, or frequent childbirth and sexual intercourse that lead to Yin-blood deficiency, internal heat due to Yin deficiency, heat disturbing the Chong and Ren meridians, restlessness in the blood sea, and abnormal menstrual flow leading to prolonged menstruation.

Blood stasis

Depression of the nature, violent anger hurts the liver, qi stagnation and blood stasis, or external evil invades the uterus, the evil and blood fight to form blood stasis, which blocks the Chong and Ren meridians and the uterus, making it difficult to stop menstrual bleeding.
