Can I swim during my menstrual period?

There are many things that girls cannot do during their menstrual period. First of all, the body's resistance is relatively weak during menstruation, which makes it easy to get infected. They cannot do any activities involving water, unless there are special needs for their job, because the water is icy, and even hot water is not good for the body.

1. Reduced immunity, so it is easier to get infected during menstruation;

2. The coagulation function decreases, so it is not recommended to have surgery during menstruation, as it will increase the amount of bleeding;

3. Normally, the cervix secretes a lot of mucus to block the cervical opening, but during the menstrual period, the mucus will decrease and the cervical opening will open, facilitating the smooth discharge of shed endometrium and blood.

Can I go swimming during menstruation?

In view of the various changes in the body of girls during menstruation, activities such as swimming/hot spring bathing will face:

1. Increased risk of vaginal/uterine infection

Some people say: "Water doesn't flow into the vagina, so infection is nonsense!" Yes, water generally doesn't flow into the vagina, but bacteria can! During the non-menstrual period, even if bacteria enter the vagina, most bacteria cannot survive due to the weak acid environment and self-cleaning function of the vagina, so the chance of infection is very small.

However, during the menstrual period, the weak acid environment of the vagina will be diluted by the blood, the self-cleaning function will decrease, and the chance of infection after bacteria enter the vagina will increase. At the same time, because the cervix opens during menstruation, the newly shed endometrium and rich blood are simply a paradise for bacterial growth, so the risk of intrauterine infection will also increase.
