Does the abortion puncture hurt?

Many pregnant women have to undergo induced abortion surgery. Some want to have an abortion, while others want to induce labor. In different situations, the specific operation procedures and methods are different. Some women who are in advanced pregnancy need to have an amniocentesis needle during the induced abortion operation. It sounds like this will be very painful. So, does the labor induction trocar hurt?

The insertion of the trocar during induction of labor is a bit painful. Because no anesthesia is required at the puncture site during induction of labor, the puncture device will pass through the skin, subcutaneous tissue, muscle layer, and peritoneum to reach the uterine cavity, which will cause pain. However, most women can bear this kind of pain. It's just because of too much anxiety that you feel a lot of mental pressure, which leads to active pain. If a woman does not want to get pregnant again after being pregnant, for example after 4 months of pregnancy, then the only way to kill the IVF embryo is to inject the drug into the uterus through the puncture device, thereby achieving the purpose of inducing abortion.

Intra-amniotic injection of drugs for inducing labor is based on abdominal puncture, introducing drugs into the amniotic cavity, relying on the drug itself to cause uterine muscle excitement, increasing the frequency and tension of uterine muscle contractions. Amniocentesis is very painful for inducing labor. The pain is caused by uterine contractions. During contractions, the patient can try to push down, stand up and walk, which is conducive to the delivery of early pregnant women. The purposes of amniocentesis are both diagnostic and therapeutic. Obtaining amniotic fluid from pregnant women for chromosome or cell biological analysis can help determine whether the chromosomes or genetic inheritance of the fetus are normal, which is helpful in taking preventive and treatment measures, promoting fetal growth or causing abortion to achieve eugenics goals.

Because no anesthetic is used, some pregnant women may feel a little tightness in the abdomen, or tingling or discomfort during the amniocentesis test, while some pregnant women may not feel any discomfort. Whether or not you feel pain during the puncture depends on your individual situation.

What are the common problems with amniocentesis?

What are the common problems before induced labor? Surgical treatment to terminate pregnancy is required for pregnancy over 16 weeks, which is called induced labor. There are currently three common methods: intra-amniotic injection induced labor, carbovitamin B3 induced labor, and water bag induced labor.

Before surgery, attention should be paid to heart, kidney and lung diseases. If abnormalities are found in the active period or serious functional conditions, induced labor cannot be performed, as well as in the acute stage of various symptoms, or there is urinary tract inflammation, or puncture site infection. If the body temperature is above 37.5 degrees twice within 24 hours before surgery, induced labor should not be performed.

Hospitalization is required for induced labor. After hospitalization, blood pressure, respiration, pulse, body temperature will be measured and a comprehensive gynecological examination will be conducted to pay attention to whether there are pelvic tumors, uterine malformations, and the growth and development of the cervix. Auxiliary examinations require blood and urine tests, coagulation product series, infectious disease product series, abdominal and vulvar skin preparation, and color ultrasound to accurately locate the test tube embryo when necessary. For pregnant women, they should urinate and empty their bladder before amniocentesis. During the whole process of puncture, there is no need to be nervous. Relieving stress is the best cooperation. The pain level of puncture is similar to the pain of normal intramuscular injection. The more tense the waist muscles are, the more painful it will feel. The doctor will do precise positioning before the puncture, which is generally not easy to cause harm to the fetus.

After the puncture, the couple is prohibited from having sexual intercourse for 2 weeks. They only need to rest properly and do not take a shower on the same day. The medical supplies at the puncture point can be removed the next day. If you have abdominal pain, vaginal bleeding, vaginal discharge or fever, go to the hospital outpatient clinic immediately.

There are also some special groups of people, such as pregnant women with twins, who need to undergo a biopsy of the two fetuses. The doctor will use different methods to test the amniotic fluid of the two fetuses; there are also pregnant women with a special blood type, Rh-negative blood type. The biopsy operation can increase the blood exchange between the fetus and the mother and reduce the risk of neonatal hemolysis, so they need to be injected with Rh-human immunoglobulin for active immunization; similar situations include patients with active hepatitis B.

Amniocentesis may increase the risk of vertical transmission of hepatitis B virus infection to the fetus and also requires injection of hepatitis B human immunoglobulin. In addition, if a fever occurs before the puncture, or the white blood cell count is found to be abnormally high, the doctor will interrupt or delay the surgical treatment and perform the puncture only after confirming that there is no infection.
