Why does my stomach hurt during my period?

Many women experience unbearable abdominal pain during menstruation, and the pain can affect their normal work and life. In fact, there are many reasons that can cause dysmenorrhea. For example, some women like to drink strong tea, or are overly tired during menstruation, eat cold food, or are in a bad mood, all of which may cause menstrual pain. Let’s take a look at the causes of menstrual pain.

Emotional agitation during menstruation:

During menstruation, you should keep a happy mood as usual, prevent mood swings, don't get excited when things happen, and it is extremely important to maintain a stable mood. For example, emotional excitement, depression and anger often cause qi stagnation, which in turn leads to late menstruation, dysmenorrhea, amenorrhea, etc.

Insufficient nutrition during menstruation:

Because a certain amount of blood is lost every month after menstruation, it is necessary to increase nutrition appropriately, such as protein, vitamins, iron, calcium, etc. During menstruation, you should eat more eggs, lean meat, fish, soy products, fresh vegetables and fruits, etc. It is not advisable to overeat or have a certain food preference. If you eat too much spicy and yang-enhancing food, it may lead to early menstruation, menorrhagia, etc.; eating too much cold and raw food may cause dysmenorrhea, amenorrhea, and leucorrhea.

Wearing tight pants during menstruation:

If you wear tight pants with a small crotch and small hip circumference during menstruation, the local capillaries will be compressed, thus affecting blood circulation and increasing perineal friction. It can easily cause perineal congestion and edema, and even cause diseases such as urinary and reproductive system infections.

Cold during menstruation:

During menstruation, keep warm and avoid catching cold. Do not get caught in the rain, wade or swim. Do not sit in damp, shady places or near air conditioners or electric fans. Also, do not use cold water to take a bath or wash your feet, so as not to cause menstrual disorders.

Anterior X-ray examination:

Women of childbearing age are in the ovulation stage before menstruation. If they undergo X-ray examination at this time, the egg cells or fertilized eggs may be damaged, causing embryonic malformation and resulting in congenital abnormalities, deformities, mental retardation, limb defects, etc. after the fetus is born.
