Many women experience dizziness and headaches in the late stages of pregnancy, when they are about to give birth, or just after giving birth. They may suddenly become unconscious, their hands and feet may twitch, their eyes may look up, and their whole body may become very stiff. They will wake up after a while, but the symptoms will relapse afterwards. Some women may even fall into a coma. This is what we call eclampsia during pregnancy. Since gestational eclampsia can occur during pregnancy, delivery or within 24 hours of delivery, it is also called antepartum eclampsia, intrapartum eclampsia or postpartum eclampsia. Symptoms of eclampsia during pregnancy : Eclampsia in pregnancy Eclampsia mostly occurs in late pregnancy and before delivery (between 20 weeks of pregnancy and the first week of the postpartum period). When convulsions occur, the eyeballs are fixed first, the pupils are dilated, the head is often twisted to one side, the facial muscles twitch, the muscles relax, the cyanosis gradually fades, the breathing is deep, snoring occurs, and the muscles of the whole body twitch vigorously. There are often prodromal symptoms before the attack, with arms flexed, hands clenched, lower limbs stiff, breathing pause, cyanosis, and eyeballs rolling up. After more than 10 seconds, white or bloody foam can be seen at the mouth. After 0.5 to 2 minutes, the convulsions gradually stop, such as severe headache, abdominal distension and pain, nausea and vomiting, etc., and the patient falls into a coma. If the condition is mild, after a few seconds, the muscles of the whole body will twitch rigidly. The person may wake up quickly after the twitch or stop twitching after 1 to 2 twitches. If the condition is severe, the person will fall into a deep coma and may continue to twitch. Eclampsia pain in traditional Chinese medicine is equivalent to "eclampsia during pregnancy" in Western medicine for severe gestational hypertension. Symptoms include sudden fainting during pregnancy, convulsions of the limbs, eyes staring straight ahead, clenched jaws, foaming at the mouth, cyanosis of the face, etc. The woman may wake up after a short while and then relapse. This is also called eclampsia. There is a risk of death to both the pregnant woman and the fetus. The working posture during pregnancy is mostly sitting or standing; twin or triple pregnancy; college education or above; primipara under 35 years old; short and fat pregnant women with a body mass index > 0.24). <Treatise on the Causes and Symptoms of Various Diseases> Volume 42 states: "When a person is weak and is exposed to wind, the Taiyang meridian is injured, causing stagnation in the meridians. If cold and dampness are encountered later, the mouth will be closed and the back will be stiff. This is called spasm. If it occurs during pregnancy... it is called eclampsia." It is also known as eclampsia, fetal dizziness, pregnancy spasm, pregnancy wind spasm, wind spasm, pregnancy epilepsy, infant dizziness, infant wind, infant spasm, and fetal wind. Before an attack, severe headache, dizziness, blurred vision, nausea, tremors in the limbs, and swelling of the lower limbs are common signs of eclampsia, and eclampsia should be prevented. Because some pregnant women experience sudden onset of eclampsia and rapid changes, it may not be enough for them to take herbal medicine, so they need to first use Western medicine to lower blood pressure, promote diuresis, and calm spasms. When a patient has convulsions, someone should support her to prevent her from falling off the bed and getting injured; wipe away vomit from the patient's mouth in time to prevent suffocation due to aspiration: Due to the strong convulsions of the pregnant woman's muscles throughout the body, it may cause uterine contractions and premature birth, so precautions should be taken during on-site first aid. Eclampsia is an obstetric emergency. Once it occurs, maternal and fetal complications and mortality rates increase significantly, so it should be taken seriously and treated urgently. Warm reminder: Eclampsia during pregnancy is very harmful to women's life and health, and everyone should know that once a pregnant woman develops eclampsia during pregnancy, the situation will be very dangerous. Therefore, once eclampsia occurs, timely rescue and treatment must be provided to reduce the mortality rate of women. |
