The difference between cervicitis and cervical cancer

Cervicitis and cervical cancer are both relatively common gynecological diseases, and the incidence rate has been relatively high in recent years. The difference between the two diseases is very large. Of course, from the perspective of the causes of the disease, the two diseases have a certain correlation. Cervical cancer is more harmful and may even threaten the patient's life. A very small number of cervicitis can easily induce cervical cancer, and the incidence of cervical cancer is closely related to high-risk HPV infection.

Cervicitis: Cervicitis is one of the common gynecological diseases, including inflammation of the cervical vaginal part and inflammation of the cervical canal mucosa. Because the squamous epithelium of the vaginal part of the cervical canal is continuous with the squamous phase of the vagina, vaginal inflammation can cause inflammation of the vaginal part of the cervix. Since the cervical mucosal epithelium is a single-layer columnar epithelium, it has poor resistance to infection and is prone to infection.

The most common clinical cervicitis is acute cervical mucositis. If acute cervicitis is not diagnosed and treated in time or the pathogen persists, it can lead to chronic cervicitis. Cervical cancer: Cervical cancer is the most common gynecological malignancy.

The peak age for carcinoma in situ is 30 to 35 years old, and for invasive carcinoma it is 45 to 55 years old. In recent years, the incidence has tended to be younger. The widespread use of cervical cytology screening in recent decades has enabled the early detection and treatment of cervical cancer and precancerous lesions, and the incidence and mortality of cervical cancer have dropped significantly.

Cervicitis: Acute cervicitis is mainly caused by the sexually transmitted pathogens Neisseria gonorrhoeae and Chlamydia trachomatis, and is mainly seen in people at high risk of sexually transmitted diseases. And endogenous pathogens Some pathogens of cervicitis are related to bacterial vaginosis pathogens and Mycoplasma genitalium infection.

Chronic cervicitis can be a continuation of acute cervicitis or it can be caused by persistent infection with pathogens similar to those of acute cervicitis. The lesions of chronic endocervical mucositis are limited to the endocervical mucosa and submucosal tissue. The vaginal part of the cervix is smooth, purulent secretions flow from the external opening, the endocervical mucosa proliferates and protrudes outward, the cervical opening is congested and red, and the cervix is enlarged.

Cervical polyps are formed by chronic inflammation and long-term stimulation, which causes the local mucosa of the cervical canal to protrude toward the external os of the cervix. Cervical cancer: Viral infection: Persistent infection with high-risk HPV is the main risk factor for cervical cancer. More than 90% of cervical cancers are accompanied by high-risk HPV infection. 2. Sexual behavior and birth frequency Multiple sexual partners, first sexual intercourse at the age of <16, young age of first birth, multiple pregnancies and births are closely related to the occurrence of cervical cancer.
