What are hemorrhoids?

What are the causes of hemorrhoids in women?

1. Bad bowel habits

Squatting when going to the toilet or taking too long to defecate can easily lead to blood congestion in the anus and cecum, causing illness.

2. Abnormal bowel movements

Diarrhea and constipation are both key causes of hemorrhoids.

3. Chronic diseases

Such as long-term poor nutrition, physical deficiency and coldness, which can cause relaxation and weakness of the external anal sphincter.

4. Dietary reasons

People who drink alcohol or eat spicy food for a long time, because alcohol and spicy food can irritate the digestive mucosa, cause blood vessel dilation, colon dysfunction, and the incidence of anorectal diseases increases significantly.

5. During menstruation and pregnancy

Women have two special periods: menstruation and pregnancy. During these periods, the pressure on the anus of women usually increases. Therefore, some women often have difficulty in defecation and increased intervals during menstruation or pregnancy, defecation once every 2-3 days.

6. Mid- to late-stage pregnancy

In the late pregnancy of women, the expansion of the fetus is compressed by the duodenum. In addition to difficulty in defecation, the venous blood flow back to the duodenal anus is obstructed, which not only easily causes hemorrhoids, but also can aggravate the original hemorrhoids.

7. Confinement period

The postpartum period after pregnancy is also a period when hemorrhoids are more likely to occur. Anorectal disease treatment data show that the incidence of hemorrhoids in pregnant women after childbirth is very high. Pregnant women experience abdominal discomfort after delivery, and the sense of urination tends to become slower, coupled with abdominal relaxation, reduced activity, increased symptoms of weak bowel movements and difficulty defecating, and often no bowel movements for several days. If the stool stays in the stomach and intestines for too long, it will form a hard mass, which can damage the anus and duodenum during strong bowel movements and cause hemorrhoids.
