Which type of woman gives birth to children with high IQ? It's not you

There is a folk saying that women with big butts have stronger fertility, but the benefits of a big butt are not limited to this. Researchers in public health epidemiology at the University of Pittsburgh said that the bigger a woman's butt, the smarter her children will be. The study also solved the mystery of why women are usually fatter than men, because women need fat thighs and buttocks to make their children smarter.

Researchers say "fat stores" in the thighs and buttocks provide nutrients for the developing brain of newborns through breastfeeding. Will Lask, a public health epidemiologist at the University of Pittsburgh, explained, "Fat in the hips and thighs is a nutrient storehouse for building a baby's brain. A lot of fat is needed to build the nervous system, and fat in these areas is rich in docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), which is one of the important components of the brain."

Typically, fat accounts for 30% of a woman's body weight. "Before giving birth, women have body fat levels similar to those of hibernating bears and whales living in the icy Arctic waters, and they remain so until the baby is born," said Lasker. "Generally speaking, women lose excess body fat during breastfeeding, and the nutrients are exactly what the baby's brain needs." Breastfeeding mothers lose 0.9 kilograms of fat per month.

Over the past 5 million years of human evolution, the average human brain volume has increased from 400 ml to 1200 ml, so women need to become fatter to meet the growing nutritional needs of their baby's brain development. David Bainbridge, a reproductive biologist at the University of Cambridge, said the findings could explain why men find curvaceous women more attractive and more attracted to them.

Ways to improve your child's IQ

1. In terms of sports.

Children should be trained to crawl, roll over, sit, stand, walk, run, jump, go up and down stairs, play ball, jump rope, and walk on a balance beam. Some parents ignore their children and do not teach them because they cannot crawl. That is irresponsible. Parents should push their children to crawl by hand. If your child doesn't know how to jump rope, you can let him practice the hand-shaking movements first, then practice the leg-jumping movements, and then practice the coordinated movements.

2. Train children's hand flexibility and accuracy.

Start by training your child to grab large objects at close range, to manipulate objects, and finally to be able to assemble and disassemble objects. When a child lies in bed at first, he may not be aware of grabbing things. Parents can tie a small toy with a thin rope and dangle it in front of the child to attract the child's attention and let the child learn to grab hanging objects with his hands.

3. Train children’s perception.

Newborns already have visual, auditory and tactile responses. Parents can train their children's vision by letting them look at, gaze at and track colorful, moving objects; train their children's hearing by letting them find toys that make sounds, listen to music, read stories to them, etc.; train their children's sense of touch by hugging them, wiping their bodies with a rough towel, letting them somersaults, play with sand, swim, etc. Take your children to nature more often to experience the rich colors, sounds, and smells.

4. Train children’s cognitive abilities.

Teach children to recognize daily necessities, master their names, and teach them some common sense. For example, how many days there are in a week, where the sun rises and sets, how many ounces there are in a pound, teach children to recognize time, find their way, and take a bus, etc.

5. When your child cannot speak yet, you should talk to him/her more and communicate with him/her.

Let your children listen to more music, conversations, nursery rhymes, stories, etc., and teach them to make simple sounds while having fun until they learn simple words and sentences.

6. Parents should hug, touch and tease their children more often to train their communication skills.

Let your children interact with others more often and play with other children. Don’t leave your children alone.
