What is the difference between breast fibroids and breast cysts?

Breast fibroids and breast cysts are both common diseases that affect women's breast health, but there are differences between the two. Breast cysts are mainly caused by cystic hyperplasia of the breast, while breast fibroids are more common in women around 20 years old.

1. There is a difference between breast fibroids and breast cysts. Most breast cysts are caused by breast cystic hyperplasia, while fibroids are a benign tumor of the breast. For example, smaller breast cysts can be eliminated through medication and physical therapy without surgery, but if left untreated for a long time, they may become cancerous. Breast fibroids require surgical removal. They are caused by excessive growth of breast fibrous tissue, mainly due to increased estrogen secretion after puberty. This is the difference between them.

2. Ultrasound examination can be used to confirm whether it is a breast fibroid or a breast cyst. Generally speaking, female friends should have regular breast ultrasound examinations to confirm whether there is hyperplasia in the breast and the specific situation, but these two are benign lesions.

3. The texture of breast fibroids is slightly harder and tougher than cysts, without a cystic feeling, and has greater mobility than cysts. The most common age of onset is between 18 and 25 years old. The lumps of breast cysts are cystic and not as mobile as breast fibroids, and they often occur during pregnancy and lactation.

4. Fibroadenoma is encapsulated and has no direct contact with other normal tissues. If the fibroadenoma is small, medication may be appropriate. Even if surgery is required, it will be a minor operation, and it will have no impact on the body and will not have any sequelae.
