Can you get pregnant during menstruation?

The menstrual cycle is 28 days, and you usually ovulate between days 12 and 16 of your menstrual cycle (the first day of your period is counted as the first day of your menstrual cycle). If your period lasts for 7 days, then by the time your period ends, it may be exactly 5 days before you ovulate.
