We talk about sun protection every day, but have you stepped on these sun protection minefields?

It's good to go out and have fun, but you will regret it if you get tanned! In the hot summer, beautiful girls must have a good sunscreen, which can kill ultraviolet rays and protect baby skin! But do beautiful girls fully understand sunscreen? Are you still struggling for a long time about which sunscreen to buy? Then you need to understand these first.

Why should we use sunscreen?

For a long time, everyone has believed that time is the butcher's knife and the main cause of skin aging. In fact, it is the sun that really makes the skin "age"! To be more precise, it is ultraviolet rays.

Studies have shown that only 20% of facial skin aging is caused by time, which of course cannot be changed; but 80% can be repaired and prevented, and of this 80%, 90% is due to photoaging.

Ultraviolet rays can cause the skin to tan and sunburn, but the invisible damage is photoaging, which can cause the skin to become dry, have enlarged pores, become sagging, and ageing. Pretty girls, hurry up and pay attention~

Sun protection knowledge! Do you know it all?

1. What are UVA and UVB?

UVA is the main culprit of photoaging and accelerates skin aging.

It can penetrate the surface of the skin, go deep into the tissue below the dermis, destroy the internal structure of the skin, cause wrinkles and fine lines, and make the skin loose and aging. It can reduce the hyaluronic acid content in the skin, make the skin dry, accelerate the formation of melanin, and make the skin darker.

UVB can cause sunburn and redness in a short period of time. UVB is relatively easy to block, a layer of glass can do it. But UVA is traditionally very strong, and thin clothing and glass are not enough to block it.

2. What are SPF and PA+?

The so-called SPF refers to the product's ability to protect against UVB, that is, its ability to prevent skin from getting red or sunburned.

Generally speaking, it takes 15-20 minutes for human skin to produce erythema under direct sunlight, that is, SPF1 is equivalent to 15-20 minutes, so the sun protection time of a skin cream with SPF30 is 15 minutes multiplied by 30, which is equivalent to 7 and a half hours. The larger the multiple, the longer the sun protection time and the better the sun protection effect.

PA+ refers to the product's ability to protect against UVA. The defense effect of PA is divided into three levels: PA+ means effective, PA++ means quite effective, and PA+++ means very effective.

Sun protection is also a technical job, revealing the misunderstandings about sun protection!

Sun protection misunderstanding 1: Just applying sunscreen is enough, and using an umbrella or other hard sun protection methods will not be very effective.

The truth: If the effects of sun protection are divided into levels, the first is to avoid sun exposure, followed by covering up, and finally sunscreen. That is, after using hard sun protection such as hats, clothes, umbrellas, sunglasses, etc., you can use sunscreen to fill in the gaps. And try to choose an opaque umbrella for better sun protection.

Sunscreen myth 2: Sunscreen needs to be absorbed 30 minutes in advance to be effective.

The truth: This statement is not entirely wrong. Sunscreen is effective when it sits on the surface of the skin and does not need to be absorbed into the skin. Of course, as the time on the skin surface increases, a more uniform sunscreen film may be formed.

Sunscreen misunderstanding 3: If you have acne on your face, using sunscreen will make it worse.

The truth: People with acne-prone skin must pay attention to sun protection, because ultraviolet rays can aggravate inflammation. You can use sunscreen with zinc oxide as the main ingredient, and the ones with a lighter texture are better. (Zinc oxide has a good inhibitory effect on inflammation).

Sunscreen misunderstanding 4: Applying multiple sunscreen products will provide better sunscreen effects.

The truth: The sun protection effect of a sunscreen product can only be the one with the highest SPF. The sun protection effects are not cumulative.

Sunscreen misunderstanding 5: My skin is very fair, so I don’t need sunscreen.

The truth: Girls with fair skin tend to have more fragile skin and are more prone to aging. The reason why people get tanned is because of the presence of melanin in the human body, and melanin exists to protect the skin from being damaged again by ultraviolet rays. Therefore, the darker the skin color, the stronger the skin's defense ability and the less likely it is to be sunburned.

Sunscreen myth 6: Sunscreen does not require makeup removal.

The truth: It mainly depends on whether the sunscreen you use is waterproof. For sunscreens with waterproof functions, you must add an extra makeup removal step. Non-waterproof sunscreens can be carefully cleaned with ordinary interface products.
