We all know that once women reach middle age, they will face menopause, and their bodies will age very quickly, which can easily lead to some physical problems. Therefore, during this period, we must pay attention to the adjustment of dietary nutrition. Once women are deficient in calcium in middle age, it will lead to osteoporosis and other phenomena. Therefore, we must eat more foods high in calcium for nourishment. It is best not to rely on drugs. Let's take a look at the manifestations of calcium deficiency in middle-aged women.

What are the symptoms of calcium deficiency in middle-aged women?

Middle-aged and elderly women are prone to lumbar fractures due to calcium deficiency

The results of a long-term follow-up survey recently released by a research team of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare of Japan showed that if middle-aged and elderly women do not consume enough calcium, their risk of lumbar fractures is about twice that of those with higher calcium intake, but no such correlation was found in men.

The survey, conducted by Kazutoshi Nakamura, an associate professor at Niigata University in Japan, and others, lasted for 10 years and involved 76,000 men and women aged 40 to 69 across Japan.

Excluding cases caused by traffic accidents, etc., a total of 364 people suffered lumbar fractures during the survey period. The researchers divided the subjects into four groups based on their calcium intake and conducted a follow-up survey. The survey results found that women in the group with the lowest daily calcium intake (less than 350 mg) had a 2.1 times higher risk of lumbar fracture than women in the group with the highest daily calcium intake (more than 700 mg). However, the researchers did not find any association between calcium intake and the risk of lumbar fractures in male subjects.

Calcium deficiency in postmenopausal women leads to osteoporosis

Ms. Wei, who is in her 62s, felt some pain in her waist when she was jolted while riding in a station wagon a few days ago. She didn't pay much attention to it at the time. Recently, the pain in her waist has gradually worsened, and she has been unable to sleep or eat. After a check-up at the hospital, she was found to have a compression fracture of the lumbar vertebra. But Ms. Wei's waist has never been in trouble, so why did she get a fracture? It turned out that she suffered from osteoporosis, which can cause fractures when exposed to a certain amount of external force.

According to the orthopedic doctor at the hospital, there have been more and more patients like Ms. Wei suffering from osteoporosis in recent years. The incidence rate among people over 60 years old is about 60%, and the incidence rate of women far exceeds that of men. Osteoporosis is more common in the elderly or postmenopausal women, especially in the five years after menopause. Smoking, alcoholism and lack of exercise are risk factors. In addition, regular use of steroid drugs can also induce the occurrence of this disease. Due to the slow loss of bone mass, bone density decreases, making fractures more likely to occur. Elderly people may suffer fractures with just a slight fall. Osteoporosis is a systemic bone metabolism disorder characterized by decreased bone mass, increased bone brittleness, and susceptibility to fractures. It is generally divided into two categories, primary osteoporosis and secondary osteoporosis. Primary osteoporosis can be divided into postmenopausal osteoporosis and senile osteoporosis.

The above is an introduction to the symptoms of calcium deficiency in middle-aged women. After understanding it, we know that once middle-aged women are calcium deficient, it is easy to lead to a decrease in body immunity, which is very detrimental to the health of the body. Therefore, in daily life, you can drink more bone soup and other foods to nourish the body. After all, compared with drugs, it has no side effects.
