Normal blood sugar range before breakfast

Normal blood sugar range before breakfast

Before the physical examination, people are told not to eat breakfast because the data of some examination items will be affected by breakfast. There is a significant difference between the normal blood sugar value 2 hours after eating breakfast and the standard value tested on an empty stomach. If a pregnant woman goes for a routine physical examination after eating, the doctor will compare it with the standard value obtained from the test. If it is within a certain range, there is no problem. Let’s actually master it together.

1. Normal blood sugar level 2 hours after a meal

Because just after a meal, the glucose content in the blood will rise due to the dissolution and conversion of substances such as fat, protein, glycogen in the food. Therefore, if the blood sugar concentration value rises after a meal, it is normal and there is no need to worry too much. However, if the blood sugar level rises beyond the normal range, you need to go to the hospital for treatment. Especially for pregnant women, their blood sugar concentration should be controlled more strictly.

Whether the blood sugar concentration of pregnant women is normal should be considered from two aspects: the normal value of fasting blood sugar of pregnant women and the normal value of postprandial blood sugar of pregnant women. For most people, the normal fasting blood sugar level can be maintained in the range of 3.9~6.1mmol/L. However, due to the special nature of pregnant women, the normal blood sugar level must be controlled more strictly. The normal fasting blood sugar level for pregnant women is required to be 3.1-5.6mmol/L. The postprandial blood sugar level needs to be checked several hours after the meal. The postprandial blood sugar level one hour, two hours, and three hours is different. The normal blood sugar level for pregnant women is not more than 5.1mmol/L when fasting, and not more than 10.0Mmol/L one hour after a meal. And the blood sugar index one hour after a meal is generally used to detect diabetes in pregnant women. The normal blood sugar level for pregnant women 2 hours after a meal is generally not more than 11.1mmol/L, and the normal blood sugar level for pregnant women 2 hours after a meal is not more than 8.5mmol/L.

2. Normal fasting blood sugar level

The normal value of fasting blood sugar is one of the common indicators to judge whether the blood sugar concentration in the human body is normal. So what is the standard value of normal blood sugar? The normal fasting whole blood sugar value is 3.9-6.1 mmol/L, and the blood blood sugar value is 3.9-6.9 mmol/L. For expectant mothers, the standard value of blood sugar is 3.1-5.6mmol/L.

Blood glucose (GLU) refers to the blood sugar index measured in blood drawn before breakfast after fasting overnight (at least 8 to 10 hours without taking any food, except drinking water). It is the most common test indicator for diabetes, reflecting the function of pancreatic beta cells and generally represents the secretion of basic insulin. The normal fasting blood sugar value for a normal person is 3.89-6.1mmol/L; if it exceeds 6.1mmol/L and is lower than 7.0Mmol/L, it is blood sugar damage; if the blood sugar is greater than 7.0Mmol/L twice, diabetes is considered; it is recommended to re-examine the blood sugar and sugar screening. In addition, the normal fasting blood sugar level for pregnant women is required to be 3.1-5.6mmol/L.

The blood sugar value referred to in clinical medicine refers specifically to the glucose in the blood. Each person's 24-hour blood sugar level will fluctuate with meals, activities, etc. Generally, blood sugar levels are stable when fasting. In clinical medical tests, the glucose oxidase method can specifically measure the true blood sugar concentration. Blood sugar levels are regulated by the central nervous system and growth hormone to maintain a relatively stable level. When this adjustment loses its original relative balance, hyperglycemia or hypoglycemia occurs.
