Is it okay to use tampons?

Tampons have their advantages as well as their disadvantages. The advantage is that when using a tampon, you don’t have to worry about menstrual blood leaking from the sides, and when using a tampon, your body can move freely, and you can even run and swim. Of course, there are many disadvantages to using tampons. Here I will briefly introduce some of the disadvantages of using tampons, hoping it will be helpful to female friends.

Don't be fooled by the scent: many businesses have launched scented sanitary napkins with rose, jasmine, lemon, mint and other flavors. These sanitary napkins have a fresh smell because different types of medicines, fragrances or additives are added to them. However, a large portion of these additives have not been tested against strict national quality standards and are the main cause of skin allergies. If there are broken areas on the skin, these allergens can penetrate into the blood and cause allergic diseases in other tissues and organs of the human body except the urinary and reproductive system. Furthermore, although these scented sanitary napkins have a distinct scent before use, the odors derived from the bacteria and microorganisms in the menstrual blood quickly cover up the scent. Therefore, it is best to use less or no medicated or scented tampons.

Since tampons are used internally, they can strongly absorb menstrual blood while reducing the odor after the menstrual blood flows out, making them more convenient when going out and exercising. Although tampons have many advantages, they can also pose health risks if used improperly. First, hand contamination before using a tampon will bring bacteria into the vagina, and the infection spreads faster than with external sanitary products. Second, an internal tampon can cause damage to the vaginal wall, and the damaged area is difficult to heal because of direct and long-term contact with menstrual blood. Therefore, women with a history of vaginal diseases should not use it.

It should be noted that the use of tampons has a certain time limit, that is, the time for use is preferably not more than 8 hours. If the time is too long, menstrual blood may flow retrograde, and bacteria may grow in the tampon, which can easily cause gynecological diseases. The best way is to change your tampon about every 6 to 8 hours.
