Correction of transverse fetal position

Correction of transverse fetal position

The transverse position of the fetus is the key cause of dystocia in pregnant women during the entire delivery process. If immediate and appropriate correction is not obtained, it may have adverse effects on the pregnant woman and the baby. Before the fetus is delivered, the normal fetal position should be occiput anterior position with occiput first presentation for the most part. Here are 9 ways to correct the fetal position when the fetus is in a transverse position.

Correction of fetal position to correct the transverse position of the fetus

1. Correct it by doing knee-chest position, once in the morning, noon and evening, each time for 15 minutes, for 1 week, and check once a week to see if the fetal position has been corrected. The posture is, on a hard bed, with chest and knees planted, buttocks pulled up, thighs and bed vertical, chest as close to the bed as possible. Remember to be on an empty stomach and loosen your belt before doing it.

2. Perform external version to correct it. The fetal head that touches the bottom of the uterus in the abdomen should be rotated ventrally toward the flexed position of the fetus, the fetal head should be pushed down, and the buttocks should be pushed up. Use manual methods to correct it step by step. Then place sponge pads on both sides of the fetus' neck, wrap a towel or cotton cloth around the abdomen, fix the fetus in the head position, and remove it after the fetal head position is fixed. However, this method requires certain standards and regulations, and must be carried out at the discretion of experienced doctors. It cannot be forced to reverse to prevent accidents. This method is rarely used at this stage.

3. Acupuncture is one of the most common ways of maintaining health and treating diseases. Of course, there are also examples of using acupuncture to treat transverse fetal position in our country. In general, it is especially suitable for fetal transverse position, such as transverse position, breech position, and oblique position. Generally speaking, pregnant women who are 1 to 2 weeks before their due date are recommended to consider this method.

4. Chinese herbal medicine self-therapy:

Recipe 1: Grind 9 grams of dried plantain seeds into powder and swallow with warm water. After a follow-up visit one week later, the fetus had not changed, so the medicine was taken again. The maximum number of times is 3. Recipe 2: 6 grams each of perilla leaves and bupleurum. Take the decoction in water, 1 dose per day, and return for follow-up visit after 1 week. Recipe three: 10g each of Chuanxiong, Scutellaria baicalensis, Codonopsis pilosula, Atractylodes macrocephala, Poria cocos, Paeonia lactiflora, Chuanduan, Citrus aurantium, Rehmannia glutinosa, and Licorice, and 6g of Notopterygium wilfordii. Take one dose per day, divided into two doses, and return for a follow-up visit after one week.

5. Lie down or take a seat, loosen your belt, and use moxa rolls to burn the Zhiyin acupoints on both sides (on both sides of the little toes). You can also use a laser to directly shine on the Zhiyin acupoints.

6. Perform moxibustion 1-2 times a day, each time for 15 minutes.

7. When the baby moves, immediately take the chest-knee position to help turn the fetus.

8. The expectant mother kneels on the bed, in a kneeling position, with her hands pressed against the bed and her legs shoulder-width apart.

9. Bend your knees and keep your thighs perpendicular to the ground. Maintain this posture for about 2 minutes. After you get used to it, you can slowly increase it to 5-10 minutes. Do it two to three times a day.
