How to treat cervicitis

The harm caused by cervicitis to our body is simply too great, and it is a kind of sexually transmitted disease, which can be transmitted to other patients and friends through various channels. Therefore, during the illness, we must put an end to promiscuity to avoid causing unnecessary harm to others. Maybe many of us do not have a clear understanding of how to treat cervicitis. Let us learn about the related issues of how to treat cervicitis.

1. Local treatment is often used to treat cervical erosion, and there are many methods, such as drug therapy, physical therapy, and surgical treatment. Vaginal medications are mostly traditional Chinese medicine or a mixture of traditional Chinese medicine and antibiotics. They have the effects of clearing away heat and dampness, reducing swelling and relieving pain, promoting blood circulation and regenerating muscles. They are non-traumatic, easy to use, and easily accepted by patients. They are suitable for patients with mild cervical erosion. For patients with moderate to severe cervical erosion, drug treatment is ineffective, time-consuming and costly. It is recommended to use physical methods to achieve better results. Use physical methods to destroy the epithelium on the surface of cervical erosion, causing it to necrotize and fall off, allowing new squamous epithelium to cover it. It takes about 6 to 8 weeks for the cervix to become smooth. Commonly used methods include electric iron, freezing, laser, and leep knife.

2. (1) Drug treatment: suitable for patients with smaller erosion area and shallower inflammatory infiltration. Antibiotics can be used for local application, such as metronidazole, sulfonamides, furazolidone, etc. Traditional Chinese medicine is widely used in the clinical treatment of cervical erosion, and the effect is also good. Some proven prescriptions and formulas are often selected, processed into powders or suppositories, placed on cotton balls, and applied to the eroded surface. Generally, the medicine is applied twice a week. During the treatment, there will be more yellow vaginal discharge, but there should be no odor. Treatment usually starts after the menstruation is over, and the medicine is applied continuously for one month and discontinued during the menstrual period.

(2) Physical therapy: It is a widely used treatment method with the advantages of short treatment course and good efficacy. It is suitable for patients with larger erosion area and deeper inflammatory infiltration. Commonly used methods include electric ironing, laser therapy, and cryotherapy. Electric ironing should be performed within 3 to 7 days after the menstruation is over. During treatment, place the iron head in contact with the eroded surface and apply slight pressure, moving it from the inside to the outside and back and forth until it slightly exceeds the eroded surface. After the operation, 1% gentian violet is applied to the wound. The patient will have heavy vaginal discharge within 2 to 3 days and a small amount of vaginal bleeding within 2 weeks. After 2 to 3 weeks, the wound will shed its scab and the squamous epithelium will begin to repair. Laser treatment uses laser to carbonize and scab the eroded tissue. The scab will fall off about 3 weeks after the operation, and new squamous epithelium will grow on the wound surface. There is also a lot of vaginal discharge after laser treatment. Cryotherapy uses liquid nitrogen as a cooling source and a rapid cooling device to freeze, necrotize, and fall off eroded tissue. There is little bleeding after the operation, but there is a lot of vaginal discharge, which usually lasts for 2 to 3 weeks. The necrotic tissue fell off in 6 weeks and the wound healed in 8 weeks. Before physical therapy surgery, the vulva, vagina, and cervix should be routinely disinfected. Since the amount of fluid discharged after surgery is large, care should be taken to keep the vulva clean and dry to prevent infection. Sexual intercourse, bathing and vaginal douching are prohibited until the wound has completely healed, which usually takes 4 to 8 weeks. After treatment, the patients were reviewed once a month to check the wound healing status.

The above content introduces us to the problem of cervicitis. The problem of cervicitis must be taken seriously by each of us. We must actively seek effective methods to get more effective treatment. In order to avoid similar problems in ourselves, we must maintain good genital hygiene and develop good living habits.
