What should I check when I am 3 and a half months pregnant?

With the increasing rate of newborn defects today, many families are shrouded in shadow. After becoming pregnant, many female friends will go to the hospital for many examinations in order to ensure the health of their babies. What kind of examinations need to be done, especially during the three months of pregnancy? Checking up after pregnancy can help doctors and prospective parents understand the overall condition of the fetus. Below I will introduce what the inspection items are.

Check-up items to be done in the first three months of pregnancy:

1. Listen to the fetal heartbeat: The hospital uses a Doppler fetal heart monitor to listen to the fetal heartbeat. This is a must-check item during the three months of pregnancy, and pregnant mothers must remember to check it.

2. Consultation: The obstetrician and gynecologist will ask the expectant mother about her weight before pregnancy, which will serve as a reference for the expectant mother's weight gain during pregnancy. Generally speaking, the ideal weight gain for pregnant women is 10 to 12.5 kg.

3. Measure your weight and blood pressure. This is also an item that must be checked.

4. Urine test: It is mainly used to test the glucose and proteinuria values of pregnant women in the third month, so as to determine whether the pregnant woman has diabetes or poor glucose tolerance, or has metabolic diseases that secrete insulin, whether the kidney function is sound, preeclampsia, gestational diabetes and other diseases.

5. Blood test: Pregnant women need to have their blood drawn to test their blood type, hemoglobin, liver function, kidney function, as well as syphilis, hepatitis B, AIDS, etc., so that they can take precautions in advance.

6. Examination of various parts of the body: The doctor will conduct specific examinations on the pregnant woman’s thyroid gland, breasts, and pelvic cavity.

7. Check the size of the uterus: From the 6th week of pregnancy, the uterus of a pregnant woman begins to gradually grow from small to large; by the third month of pregnancy, the fundus of the uterus will be above the pubic symphysis; by the 20th week, it will cross the pelvic cavity to the navel. When a woman is between 20 and 35 weeks pregnant, the number of centimeters measured by the doctor from the pubic symphysis to the fundus of the uterus is roughly equal to the number of weeks of the fetus. This number of weeks can also be used as a basis for whether the fetus is developing normally, and an inference is usually made based on a gain or loss of 3 centimeters.

The above are the examination items that need to be done after pregnancy. Female friends can take a closer look. Many young people of childbearing age believe that they are healthy and there is no need for examination. Little do people know that these inspections are very important. Although some young people appear to be very healthy, they still carry some disease-causing genes. So everyone still has to be careful.
