How many days after menstruation is it normal to have leucorrhea

Many women know what leucorrhea is, but they don’t know much about the increase or decrease in leucorrhea during different stages of a woman’s life. Therefore, the symptoms of some female diseases are not taken seriously and cannot be treated early. In fact, leucorrhea reflects one aspect of women's health. So what does leucorrhea look like? What are the symptoms of normal leucorrhea? What does leucorrhea have to do with our body? Let’s follow the editor to find out.

The formation of leucorrhea is closely related to estrogen, so pre-pubertal girls generally do not have leucorrhea. After puberty, the ovaries begin to develop and secrete estrogen to promote the development of the reproductive organs, and leucorrhea begins to appear at this time. Leucorrhea is a sticky white liquid that flows out of the vagina of women. It is a mixture of secretions from the Bartholin's glands, cervical glands, endometrium, exudate from the vaginal mucosa, and desquamated vaginal epithelial cells.

What does normal vaginal discharge look like?

Normal leucorrhea should be milky white or colorless and transparent, with a slightly fishy smell or no smell; its secretion amount and texture are affected by the levels of estrogen and progesterone in the body, and vary cyclically with the menstrual cycle, with varying amounts, textures and thicknesses. Generally, the amount of vaginal discharge after menstruation is less.

What are the causes of abnormal leucorrhea? Mainly observe from the color, quality, quantity and taste of leucorrhea:

1. Colorless, transparent, sticky leucorrhea: It is egg white-like and similar in properties to the mucus secreted by the cervical glands during ovulation, but the amount is significantly increased. Generally, the possibility of chronic endocervicitis, ovarian dysfunction, vaginal adenosis, or well-differentiated cervical adenocarcinoma should be considered.

2. White or grayish yellow foamy leucorrhea: It is a characteristic of Trichomonas vaginitis and may be accompanied by vulvar itching.

3. Curd-like leucorrhea: It is a characteristic of candidal vaginitis, often accompanied by severe vulvar itching or burning pain.

4. Gray, homogeneous leucorrhea with a fishy smell: common in bacterial vaginosis.

5. Purulent leucorrhea: yellow or yellow-green in color, sticky, and often smelly. It can be caused by acute vaginitis, cervicitis, and endocervicitis caused by bacteria such as Trichomonas or gonococci. Pyometra, cervical cancer, vaginal cancer or foreign objects retained in the vagina can also cause pus-like leucorrhea.

6. Bloody leucorrhea: If there is blood mixed in the leucorrhea, cervical cancer, endometrial cancer, cervical polyps or submucosal fibroids should be considered. Insertion of an intrauterine device can also cause bloody leucorrhea.

7. Watery leucorrhea: Continuous discharge of watery leucorrhea like rice washing water with a pungent odor is usually caused by advanced cervical cancer, vaginal cancer, or submucosal fibroids with infection. If you have intermittent discharge of yellow or red watery vaginal discharge, you should be aware of the possibility of fallopian tube cancer.

The above are several symptoms of abnormal leucorrhea summarized by the editor. When women find themselves having the above symptoms, they should take preventive and care measures in time, maintain hygiene, change clothes frequently, and use appropriate medications for cleaning. In this way, they can effectively achieve the effect of prevention in the early stages of the disease.
