What to do if you have difficulty breathing during pregnancy

In daily life, pregnancy is indeed a very painful thing. It not only causes back pain, but also easily causes continuous weight gain if you don't pay attention to your diet. These all bring great harm to expectant mothers. Moreover, many expectant mothers, especially those in the 6th month of pregnancy, often experience breathing difficulties. The lungs and respiratory system will also be squeezed and expelled in the 6th month of pregnancy. Let's learn about it together.

Dyspnea, which is commonly described as "breath holding", is a symptom in which the patient subjectively feels that there is not enough air, has difficulty breathing, deepens and speeds up breathing, and even breathes through the mouth.

Dyspnea often occurs in patients with existing heart, lung, or abdominal diseases, such as pneumonia, pneumothorax, emphysema, cor pulmonale, bronchitis, tracheal foreign body, asthma, pulmonary infarction, heart failure, arrhythmia, hypoxia, increased abdominal pressure (such as when there is a large amount of ascites), etc. In the later stages of pregnancy, the pressure from the fetus may also cause breathing difficulties for pregnant women.

Dyspnea can also occur after strenuous exercise or a sudden change in body position. Due to insufficient blood and oxygen supply, the patient's body will experience rapid breathing (20-30 times/minute), adopt a special posture (sitting upright), and have cyanosis of the lips and fingertips.

Breathing difficulties that occur while sleeping soundly at night often make people feel as if a heavy object is pressing on their chest, causing them to wake up suddenly and be forced to sit up. If this situation occurs frequently, it often indicates a decline in heart and lung function, or the presence of certain diseases. Since breathing difficulties are an emergency, it can be dangerous if not treated promptly when they are serious.

Therefore, once it occurs, treatment should be sought as soon as possible.

It is recommended that you go to the hospital to check the development of the fetus and prepare oxygen equipment.

In daily life, we can prepare oxygen for expectant mothers to prevent the fetus from being too large and squeezing their respiratory system and lungs, which can easily cause frequent breathing difficulties, so friends should be careful.
