How to relieve severe dysmenorrhea?

Dysmenorrhea is a very painful thing for most women. Especially for some older women. In fact, this is also a gynecological disease. There are many folk remedies circulating among the people, but many women are not sure whether they can effectively relieve the pain caused by dysmenorrhea. After consulting a professional doctor, the editor learned some solutions. Next, let me introduce the methods I have learned!

Method 1: Taking vitamins

Many patients with dysmenorrhea rarely experience menstrual pain after taking an appropriate amount of vitamins and minerals every day. Therefore, it is recommended that you take a multivitamin and mineral supplement, preferably one that contains calcium and is in a lower dose, which can be taken several times a day.

Method 2: Supplement minerals

Minerals such as calcium, potassium and magnesium can also help relieve menstrual cramps. Experts have found that women who take calcium have less menstrual pain than those who do not. Magnesium is also important because it helps the body absorb calcium efficiently. You may want to increase your calcium and magnesium intake before and during your period.

Method 3: No alcohol

If you are prone to swelling during your period, drinking alcohol can make this problem worse. Never use diuretics; many women believe that diuretics can reduce menstrual swelling and discomfort. In fact, diuretics will excrete important minerals along with water from the body, so we should reduce our intake of salt and alcohol, etc. These things will cause water retention in the body.

Method 4: Practice yoga

Practicing yoga can also help relieve dysmenorrhea, such as kneeling with bent knees and sitting on the heels. Rest your forehead on the ground and stretch your arms out at your sides. Hold this position until you feel uncomfortable.

Method 5: Acupressure to relieve dysmenorrhea

The feet contain acupressure points that connect to the pelvic energy pathways. Use your thumbs and fingertips to gently massage the depressions on both sides of your ankles from the Achilles tendon upwards to the calf muscles, applying pressure for several minutes each time.

In addition to the methods introduced above, if women have dysmenorrhea during their menstrual period, they can also drink a cup of hot milk with honey or brown sugar water with ginger before going to bed. Don't stay up late, drink alcohol, or stay in the cold. This way, the pain can be relieved. If these two simple methods still don't work, it's time to go to the hospital and consult a professional doctor.
