What is vulvar leukoplakia?

Because we know very little about some diseases in our daily lives, we often don’t know how to deal with them after we get sick, so everyone must figure out what type of disease they have. Vulvar leukoplakia is a very stubborn disease. It is a disease within the scope of gynecology and dermatology. It is very difficult to treat. Next we will introduce you to the situation of vulvar leukoplakia in detail.

White lesions of the vulva are also called white lesions of the vulva, leukoplakia of the vulva, or vulvar dystrophy. The so-called vulvar leukoplakia actually refers to a disease of tissue degeneration and pigment changes caused by local nerve and vascular nutrition disorders in the vulva. Clinically, diseases in which the skin and mucous membranes of the vulva become white, coarse, or atrophic are collectively referred to as "vulvar leukoplakia."

Vulvar leukoplakia has the following symptoms:

1. Pigment deposition, spread of white spots, and possible canceration: Although the manifestations of vulvar leukoplakia are different, such as itching and loss of pigment or discoloration, they are not easy to distinguish with the naked eye. Even if the naked eye can diagnose, pathological classification cannot be achieved, especially the early detection of atypical hyperplasia (precancerous lesions). Literature reports that about 50% of vulvar squamous cell carcinomas are often accompanied by vulvar white lesions. Therefore, if the lesions are atypical or there are chronic fissures, localized thickening, or ulceration, the diagnosis must be confirmed by biopsy and pathological examination.

2. Severe and unbearable itching: Leukoplakia of the vulva is very harmful. After suffering from this disease, patients often feel unbearable itching in the vulva, as if a hole is drilled in the heart. The itching is paroxysmal, especially at night, accompanied by burning, dryness and discomfort, which seriously affects sleep. It can last for months or even decades. It is a stubborn disease with a very long incubation period. Therefore, when the itching of the vulva persists and becomes increasingly severe, female friends should be alert and go to the hospital for further examination immediately.

The above content is an introduction to vulvar leukoplakia. When suffering from vulvar leukoplakia, patients generally have many obvious symptoms. Because this disease is relatively stubborn and takes a long time to treat, everyone should actively receive relevant treatment when symptoms appear.
