How to deal with vaginal itching after childbirth

Many mothers will experience symptoms of genital itching after giving birth. Vaginal itching is not only a problem for mothers, but many women have this problem. The causes of genital itching are varied, and it is difficult to distinguish them at first, but it also makes people worry. What is the cause of postpartum genital itching? What to do if you have vaginal itching after childbirth? Let us find out through the following.

Vulvar itching is a symptom caused by many reasons. It is mostly caused by the large amount of abnormal leucorrhea discharged from vulvar inflammation caused by trichomonas or fungal infection, which irritates the vulva. If disinfectant solution is used to wash the vulva and vagina, or certain drugs are placed in the vagina (such as sulfonamides, furazolidone, strong alkaline soap, potassium permanganate solution, etc.), causing vulvar skin allergies or dermatitis, it can also cause vulvar itching. Not paying attention to hygiene after childbirth and not washing the vulva regularly, causing menstrual blood or vaginal secretions to accumulate in the vulva for a long time; or wearing synthetic underwear at ordinary times, which often puts the vulva in a hot and humid environment, often causing vulvar itching.

General treatment

1. Pay attention to menstrual hygiene, change menstrual pads frequently during menstruation, and wash them frequently.

2. Keep the vulva clean and dry, do not wash it with hot water or scrub it with soap.

3. Avoid misusing or abusing drugs, scratching or local friction.

4. Avoid alcohol, spicy food, seafood, and any medicines that may cause allergies.

5. Do not wear tight crotch pants. Underwear should be loose, breathable, and preferably made of cotton.

6. If the area is damaged or infected, you can use 1:5000 potassium permanganate solution (add a small amount of potassium permanganate powder to warm water to make it light red, not too concentrated) to soak and wash, twice a day, each time for 20-30 minutes

7. See a doctor to check if there is fungus or trichomonas. If there is, treat it promptly instead of using "anti-itching water" to treat it yourself
