How to treat multiple uterine fibroids?

Multiple uterine fibroids are a very common benign tumor in the female reproductive organs and there is a possibility of recurrence. Due to the small shape of the fibroids, there are no symptoms before, and patients generally cannot find them. When they are discovered, they are already in the late stage. So how should multiple uterine fibroids be treated?

1. Medicine: Traditional Chinese medicine is ineffective in treating uterine fibroids. Sex hormone drugs are used to forcibly lower estrogen levels and relieve the symptoms of uterine fibroids, but they cannot be cured and have serious side effects.

2. Surgery: Myomectomy or hysterectomy is effective quickly, but if the root cause of the disease, endocrine disorders, is not changed, uterine fibroids may recur. The most important thing for those with uterine fibroids is to detect them in time and have surgery early.

3. Choose the treatment method that suits you based on the different characteristics of the fibroids and the patient's own condition. Many people who have no desire to have children choose to have a hysterectomy after suffering from uterine fibroids, with the aim of achieving quick results and preventing recurrence, but they lose both the fibroids and the uterus. Little do people know that the uterus is an integral part of the female pelvic floor. To remove the uterus, a hole must be dug in the pelvic floor and the 10 ligaments that secure the uterus must be cut off before the uterus can be removed. The integrity of the pelvic floor is destroyed, the support strength of the pelvic floor decreases, and the internal organs sag, seriously affecting the quality of life, especially sexual life. Removing the uterus due to myoma is a very big misunderstanding. In fact, myoma is a benign disease. With today's medical level, there is no need and should not be a hysterectomy. In recent years, minimally invasive technology has become very popular. Submucosal fibroids can be completely removed vaginally with hysteroscopy without any incision; subserosal fibroids and intramural fibroids can be removed laparoscopically, with the maximum incision of the abdominal wall being 1 cm. Therefore, young or asymptomatic patients with fibroids should not wait until the fibroids grow larger or symptoms appear before undergoing surgery. The smaller the fibroids, the less trauma to the uterus. Once fibroids exist, they will surely grow larger and larger. Any drug treatment will be ineffective. Embolization and self-coagulation knife are even more undesirable because they can easily damage the intestines, cause bleeding, and recurrence. It is better to remove it as soon as possible and assist with endocrine regulation after surgery, which is the best solution.

When removing multiple uterine fibroids, never remove the uterus lightly, regardless of the woman's age or whether she wants to have children or not. The surgical method can be determined based on the location and size of the fibroids and the patient's condition. But those with malignant changes are an exception. A total hysterectomy requires cutting off five pairs of interuterine pelvic ligaments, creating a large "hole" in the pelvic floor. It goes without saying that the pelvic floor will relax and its support will decrease. The constipation, urinary incontinence, and decreased sexual life quality caused by the sinking and displacement of the pelvic and abdominal organs are enough to negate the need for a total hysterectomy.

In this article, we have already learned about the treatment methods for multiple uterine fibroids. Generally, surgery is the treatment method. Before the operation, you must be careful not to make yourself too tired, eat more fresh fruits or vegetables, and remember to go to the hospital for a follow-up examination.
