What are the symptoms of prolactin pituitary tumor

I believe that many friends sometimes feel unwell, but at this time, due to various reasons they cannot go to the hospital for examination in time, so many times it will be left unresolved. But you have to know that for some bad things, there will often be some symptoms, so everyone should pay attention and observe. So, what are the symptoms of prolactin-producing pituitary tumors? Let’s take a look at it together. I hope the following content will be inspiring to everyone.

Prolactin is one of the six hormones in women. If it is too high, it will suppress the levels of other hormones, thus affecting the regularity of menstruation. An enlarged pituitary gland may indicate a pituitary tumor, but it is not 100% certain.

Symptoms are:

1. Excessive endocrine hormones manifest in about 70% of cases, clinically characterized by hypersecretion of the pituitary gland, resulting in a characteristic hypersecretion syndrome. This type of patient is more common in young people. For example, amenorrhea-galactorrhea, gigantism and acromegaly, hypercortisolism, pituitary hyperthyroidism, and Nelson syndrome.

2. Symptoms of compression of the adenohypophysis itself. A decrease in pituitary trophic hormones and atrophy of the corresponding surrounding target glands may manifest as symptoms of partial or total hypopituitarism, such as fatigue, weakness, hypogonadism or impotence, hypothyroidism, and sometimes tumor compression of the neurohypophysis or hypothalamus may produce diabetes insipidus.

3. The manifestations of compression of the tissues adjacent to pituitary adenomas include: ① Headache: It may appear early, which is attributed to the increased tension of the sellar septum and dura mater caused by the tumor in the sellar septum; ② Decreased vision, impaired visual field, compression of the optic nerve, and bilateral temporal hemianopsia; ③ Cerebrospinal fluid leakage: The tumor grows downward and destroys the sellar floor; ④ Hypothalamic syndrome group: Compression of the hypothalamus can affect sleep, eating, behavior and mood changes; ⑤ Cavernous sinus syndrome, eye movement disorders and exophthalmos.

Through the above analysis and introduction, I believe everyone knows what the symptoms of prolactin pituitary tumor are. If you find yourself experiencing the above symptoms, it is recommended that you put down the work in your hands, no matter how important it is, and go to the hospital for a physical examination as soon as possible, so that everyone can rest assured.
