What should I do if my vulva is itchy, red, swollen and painful?

After having sex, the vulva begins to itch or become swollen and painful, which lasts for a while. The vulva is itchy and a little red and swollen. So what is the cause of this? Why do such symptoms appear after having sex? Is it a problem with the sexual partner? When this happens, what methods should we use to help relieve the symptoms?

Because the natural defense function of the vagina is damaged, pathogens invade women, leading to vaginitis, which is often accompanied by symptoms such as vulvar itching. The treatment of vaginitis depends on the situation. Some vaginitis requires oral medication, some requires internal and external treatment, and some only requires external medication.

Treatment of fungal vaginitis

1. Use pure Chinese medicine preparations, such as Shuyin Qumei San. Pour the medicine into a basin, add appropriate amount of boiling water, and use steam to fumigate the perineum until there is no steam. After the water temperature drops, use the medicine liquid to wash the affected area. Fumigation once in the morning and evening.

2. Use 2%~3% soda solution to rinse the vagina and vulva. You can also use it for a sitz bath. After washing, wipe it dry and apply nystatin cream on the vaginal wall, once in the morning and once in the evening. Or after cleaning the vagina with baking soda, put a gel disinfectant deep into the vagina, once a night. This method of treatment will take effect in about 10 to 14 days.

Nonspecific vaginitis treatment medication

1. Take clindamycin orally, twice a day for 7 consecutive days.

2. Take metronidazole orally, twice a day for 7 consecutive days.

3. Apply metronidazole topically. Metronidazole is placed into the vagina and a course of treatment lasts one week.

4. Apply gel disinfectant inside the vagina once every night for 7 consecutive days.

Trichomonas vaginitis treatment medication

Patients with this type of vaginitis need both internal and external treatment to eliminate the Trichomonas that live in the urethra, intestines, cervical glands and wrinkles. It can be treated with both Western and Chinese medicine.

Vulvar itching and redness are generally caused by bacterial infection, which leads to vaginal inflammation. You can go to the hospital for a leucorrhea examination. If it is confirmed to be vaginitis, you should receive timely symptomatic treatment. You can also choose to use some antibacterial and anti-inflammatory drugs or Sanjin tablets in advance, and then use external vaginal cleansing liquid to clean.
