The labia minora is as white as if it had been blistered

We all know that for women, the vagina is very important. If the labia minora is not cared for in time, it is easy to cause labia diseases, such as whitening of the labia minora and so on. Today I will give you some basic information about whitening of the labia minora in women. So what is the reason why women’s labia minora turn white? If you want to know more, please read on.

What is the reason why women's labia minora turn white?

The labia minora turns pale, generally known as labia leucoderma, which is actually chronic labia dystrophy. The exact cause of labia leucoderma is unclear, and there is a certain possibility of pathological changes. The actual reasons why women's labia minora turn white are as follows:

1. Combined malnutrition

The main manifestations are focal skin thickening or protrusions adjacent to the thin white area of the labia minora, or within its range.

2. Hyperplastic or combined type with atypical epithelial cell hyperplasia

It is generally believed that in proliferative and combined diseases, only 5 or 10 cases may have atypical hyperplasia, and this atypical hyperplasia is limited to a part of the proliferative squamous epithelial cells. Atypical hyperplasia often has no distinct clinical symptoms, and partial tissue biopsy is the only way to confirm the diagnosis. But if ulcers appear in the labia part. Or when there is a clearly demarcated milky white protrusion and atypical hyperplasia is found during a puncture biopsy at that point, the possibility of a lesion is very high.

3. Hyperplastic malnutrition

It usually occurs in women between 30 and 60 years old. The clinical symptoms are unbearable itching of the labia majora followed by local pain after scratching. The range of the disease varies, mainly spreading to the labia majora, intervulvar groove, clitoral foreskin and posterior symphysis, often symmetrically. The skin of the patient becomes thickened like leather, with raised and wrinkled areas, or has desquamation and eczematous changes. The labia minora are mostly dark red or pink in color, with clearly defined soft milky white spots. There is generally no shrinkage or adhesion.

4. Scleroderma lichenoid malnutrition

It can occur in women of all ages, including under 10 years old, but is more common in women around 40 years old. The clinical symptoms are itching in the affected area, but it is generally much milder than the hyperplastic type of disease, and sexual life becomes difficult in the late stage.

The disease affects the skin of the labia majora, mucous membranes and skin around the anus. Common disease damage locations include the clitoral hood, labia, and posterior synergistic point. In addition to the skin or mucous membrane becoming white, soft, dry and cracked, and losing elasticity, the clitoris is often shrunk and adhered to the foreskin, and the labia majora is flat and subsided. In the late stage, the skin becomes thin and wrinkled like cigarette paper, and the muscles of the vulva become atrophied and narrow, with only the tips of fingers enough to fit.

Female patients with this disease often feel discomfort around the labia and anus after urinating or defecating. Examination reveals keyhole-shaped yellowish spots or milky white lesions around the labia and anus. But generally by the time of puberty, the disease will disappear on its own. The skin of the labia minora of some menopausal women becomes soft and shiny, and they experience slight stinging, itching and difficulty in sexual life, which was previously called "primary atrophy of the labia minora". However, during pathological examination, except for the lack of keratinization and hyperkeratinization of the epidermis, other tissue changes were the same as those of lichen sclerosus.
