How to relieve postpartum belly pain?

After giving birth, women often feel intermittent pain in their abdomen. Some women who have undergone caesarean section may also experience pain on the surface of their abdomen. When this happens, many mothers will worry about residual problems such as the placenta not being completely expelled or the operation not being done well. In fact, there is no need to worry too much. All mothers will experience this situation and it is a normal reaction. If the pain is severe, you can take steps to relieve it.

2-4 days after giving birth, pregnant women will experience lower abdominal pain due to reflex contractions of the uterus, which is especially obvious when breastfeeding. This is a normal physiological phenomenon that promotes the discharge of lochia. It usually disappears naturally 3-4 days after delivery, so there is no need to worry too much. For women who have undergone cesarean section, after their intestinal motility begins to recover but before it is completely straightened out, they often feel a stream of gas reaching the anus and then returning upward, causing abdominal pain. Some women who have undergone cesarean section may have abdominal pain, which is mainly due to local postoperative superficial skin nerve irritation. This sign is only on the surface of the skin and is caused by poor blood circulation in the skin and blocked nerve function, causing pain.

Ways to relieve lower abdominal pain:

1. Generally, if the pain is mild, you can gently massage your lower abdomen, or use a hot water bottle to relieve the pain.

2. If the pain is more obvious, you can take motherwort paste or Shenghua Tang under the guidance of a Chinese medicine practitioner to promote the discharge of lochia and also help relieve pain.

3. For mothers who undergo cesarean section, they should turn over more often after delivery to promote the early recovery of the paralyzed intestinal muscle peristalsis function, so that the gas in the intestine can be discharged as soon as possible, thereby improving abdominal distension.

If the pain in your lower abdomen is not severe, you don't need to treat it, because this is more conducive to the recovery of the uterus and the discharge of lochia. If the pain is severe, you can use the above method to relieve it; if the pain is unbearable, you should seek medical attention in time to prevent other problems.
