What causes brown, sticky vaginal discharge?

Female friends all know that leucorrhea will be secreted from the vagina. The reason why leucorrhea is called leucorrhea is because it is white in color and has no odor. The dark brown secretions in the genitals are mostly abnormal leucorrhea. Faced with this kind of situation, female friends must pay attention to it, because this kind of dark brown secretions are mostly caused by gynecological diseases. Below I will introduce this dark brown secretion to you.

Dark brown discharge from the vagina is called "bloody leucorrhea".

Generally speaking, leucorrhea after menstruation is odorless and the amount is not large. It varies depending on the person's stage of the menstrual cycle. During the ovulation period, the secretion of cervical endometrial glandular cells is vigorous, so the amount of leucorrhea increases, which is very similar to thin and transparent egg white. When the cervical mucus is pulled with two fingers, it can be stretched to several centimeters without breaking, and it has good elasticity. However, the shape of leucorrhea is not fixed. This phenomenon cannot be observed in the second half of the menstrual period. 2-3 days before and after the menstrual period, due to pelvic congestion, vaginal secretions increase, leucorrhea also a lot, sometimes slightly bloody, and when the corpus luteum function is insufficient, there will be dark brown secretions after menstruation.

Dark brown discharge after menstruation may be a sign of gynecological inflammation. Normal leucorrhea should be milky white or colorless and transparent, with a slightly fishy smell or no smell; its secretion amount and texture are affected by the levels of estrogen and progesterone in the body, and vary periodically with the menstrual cycle, with varying amounts, textures and thicknesses.

If it is the ovulation period, there may be a small amount of blood mixed with leucorrhea during ovulation. These are all normal and do not require treatment. However, if dark brown leucorrhea appears at other times, then timely treatment is required. You can go to the hospital for routine leucorrhea examination to clarify your specific situation and then choose the appropriate treatment method.

Some women with dark brown secretions like to use sanitary pads because they think these secretions are unhygienic. However, this practice is actually not advisable. Using sanitary pads can easily cause bacterial growth. The editor recommends that women who have more secretions and have to use sanitary pads should change them in time to avoid infection.
