What happens if there is a mediastinum in the uterus?

The health of the uterus is very important to women, and problems with the uterus will be a big blow to women. Most women are not fully aware of the dangers of uterine septate. If the uterus has a septate, it will easily lead to the risk of infertility or miscarriage. Uterine septum can cause deformation of the patient's uterine cavity, resulting in secondary infertility and causing great harm to the body. What are the causes of uterine septate? Let me list them out for you one by one.

Uterine septum, also known as uterine septum malformation, is a congenital developmental abnormality of the uterus. Clinically, it is divided into complete uterine septum and incomplete uterine septum. Uterine septum changes the symmetry of the uterine cavity and may interfere with normal reproductive function. It can easily cause primary uterine septate infertility or refractory infertility.

The cause of uterine septum: When the embryo develops normally, at 19-20 weeks of gestation, the intrauterine septum formed by the fusion of the Mullerian ducts on both sides will be completely absorbed and disappear. If the absorption process is hindered by internal and external factors, it may cause uterine septate of varying degrees. In recent years, cell apoptosis is considered to be one of the mechanisms of uterine septum absorption during the embryonic period. Monoclonal antibody and immunohistochemical analysis revealed that no proteins regulating apoptosis were found in the septate uterus. Therefore, the absence of the protein leads to malabsorption of the uterine septum during the embryonic period.

Infertility experts remind you that although patients with uterine septate can get pregnant, even if they do, the incidence of intrauterine growth retardation and intrauterine death is higher because the septate uterus has fewer blood vessels and more fibrous tissue than the normal uterine myometrium, which hinders normal implantation. In addition, the septum can hinder normal placental growth and cause early fetal death. If the pregnancy continues, it will develop into intrauterine growth retardation.

Although a malformed uterus can lead to frequent miscarriages, there are many treatments for uterine septum, and pregnancy can be cured as long as you actively cooperate with the treatment. No matter what the cause is, it is important to go to the hospital for examination as soon as possible, receive scientific treatment, and prevent the harm of the disease from worsening.
