What causes vaginal bleeding in women?

Mature women have vaginal bleeding every month, which is called menstruation. However, some people often experience irregular vaginal bleeding, which means that there will be a small amount of bleeding even when not in the menstrual period. Some people tend to not take it seriously, thinking it is not a big problem and tend to ignore it. In fact, irregular vaginal bleeding should be taken seriously, because it reminds women that there may be several problems with their bodies:

1. Genital inflammation: Inflammation of the vagina, uterus, and fallopian tubes can cause abnormal vaginal bleeding. For example, senile vaginitis can cause bloody leucorrhea; the main clinical manifestation of endometritis is also irregular vaginal bleeding.

2. Uterine fibroids: The most common symptom of uterine fibroids is irregular vaginal bleeding, which manifests as menstrual disorders, shortened cycles, prolonged menstrual periods, increased menstrual flow, etc.

3. Endometriosis: Endometriosis is often accompanied by uterine fibroids or adenomyosis. If the ovarian tissue is damaged or endocrine abnormalities occur, abnormal vaginal bleeding may occur.

4. Endometrial cancer: The main manifestation of endometrial cancer is abnormal vaginal bleeding, and when combined with infection, there may be foul-smelling pus and blood.

5. Ovarian tumors: Ovarian tumors destroy ovarian tissue and cause abnormal secretion of sex hormones, or tumors secrete abnormal amounts of sex hormones, which can cause irregular shedding of the endometrium and lead to abnormal vaginal bleeding, such as granulosa cell tumors.

6. Cervical cancer: The main clinical manifestation of cervical cancer is contact vaginal bleeding, which often manifests as bleeding after sexual intercourse.

7. Pituitary tumor or empty sella syndrome: These two diseases cause abnormal secretion of gonadotropin and increased prolactin from the pituitary gland, thereby affecting the secretion of sex hormones from the ovaries and ovulation disorders, causing abnormal vaginal bleeding.

Therefore, vaginal bleeding should never be taken lightly. Once irregular vaginal bleeding occurs, even if the amount is not much, it is the body's alarm bell for you. It is reminding you that there is an abnormality in your body and you should take it seriously. At the same time, you should actively see a doctor and receive symptomatic treatment to say goodbye to the illness as soon as possible.
