How harmful are birth control pills?

In today's life, more and more young people are not responsible for themselves and take birth control pills casually, thinking that as long as they don't get pregnant, they won't think about it in the future. However, birth control pills are very harmful. Taking too much may lead to infertility, so it will be difficult to get pregnant when you want a child, so other contraceptive measures should be taken. So how harmful are birth control pills?

The emergence of birth control pills reduces the probability of unwanted pregnancy and is a contraceptive method preferred by many young women. However, if birth control pills are taken for a long time, it will cause harm to women's bodies.

The dangers of taking birth control pills

1. Vaginal bleeding. Many women experience persistent spotting or breakthrough bleeding similar to menstrual volume while taking the medication. This is related to missed doses, late doses of birth control pills, or insufficient effectiveness of birth control pills.

2. Oligomenorrhea or amenorrhea. Contraceptive pills can cause endometrial hypoplasia and insufficient glandular secretion, so the endometrium cannot grow normally and becomes thinner, resulting in a decrease in menstrual volume. Some women experience amenorrhea due to excessive inhibitory effects of contraceptives, which results in no withdrawal bleeding after stopping the medication.

3. Weight gain. Some women gain weight after taking birth control pills because certain ingredients in birth control pills can cause weight gain. Especially in the first 3 months of taking oral contraceptives, the increased estrogen levels cause water and sodium retention, thus leading to weight gain in the second half of the menstrual cycle; progesterone promotes anabolism, leading to weight gain.

4. Dull complexion. After taking birth control pills, some women may experience a dull complexion, which is caused by pigmentation caused by estrogen.

Many people do not pay attention to their bodies when they do not want children, and take birth control pills indiscriminately, regardless of how harmful birth control pills are. The initial impact is that it may cause irregular menstruation. In the long run, it is very likely to lead to infertility, and then it will be too late to even regret it. Therefore, you must always take good care of yourself. Don't think that you have the capital to waste just because you are young. Your body is your own.
