How to stop breastfeeding during mastitis?

For a woman, giving birth to a baby is both a painful and a happy thing. However, when the baby is just born, the baby needs to drink breast milk to supplement nutrients. However, due to some reasons, the mother may get mastitis. Well, many mothers will ask, how should they stop producing milk during mastitis? Today, I will introduce to you some massage methods to stop producing milk.

Mastitis is an acute suppurative infection of the breast, which is caused by bacteria (such as Staphylococcus aureus) invading the breast tissue through nipple fissures or milk duct openings. At the beginning of mastitis, there are swelling and pain in the breast, tenderness of the lump, redness and swelling on the surface, and fever; if it continues to develop, the symptoms will worsen and the breast will have throbbing pain.

1. Milk discharge technique

There are two methods of expressing milk: the two-finger method and the three-finger method.

Two-finger method: Place your thumb and index finger in a C shape on the outside of the areola; then expand and press down forcefully to squeeze the base of the breast. Continue this movement and gradually speed up so that the milk will flow out quickly.

Three-finger method: Use your thumb, index finger and middle finger to stand on the outside of the areola. Do the same as the two-finger method, press down and squeeze out the milk. Do this for about 5 minutes. Excrete as much as the baby can eat, because milk is eaten out, not squeezed out.

2. Massage techniques

Massage the breast from four directions: the outside, bottom, inside and top. The whole process takes about 10 minutes.

Outside: Place the base of both hands on the outside of the breast, massage and circle gently, and after about three minutes, push toward the nipple.

Bottom: Use the bottom of the little fingers of both hands to massage the lower edge of the breast, also pressing and kneading in circles, and then push towards the nipple.

Inside: Place the fingertips of four fingers upright on the inside of the breast, circle, massage, and push toward the nipple.

Upper side: Place the base of your thumb and index finger on the upper side of the breast, massage in circles, and push toward the nipple.

The above are some massage methods for stopping milk production during mastitis that I want to introduce to you today. You can take a look at them. I hope my sharing will be helpful to you. According to my understanding, the best way to stop weaning is massage. You may want to give it a try. The editor also wishes everyone good health.
