Is it harmful to induce labor at 4 months?

The fourth month of pregnancy is already in the second trimester. The fetus at this time has already fully grown and developed, and the limbs have already formed. If the pregnant woman needs to have an induced abortion for various reasons at this time, it will cause great harm to her body. Induced abortion surgery mainly terminates pregnancy by inducing uterine contractions through artificial services, which include drugs or equipment to promote the initiation of labor in pregnant women. So what harm might there be in inducing abortion at four months of pregnancy?

1. Intrauterine infection

This is similar to the intrauterine infection caused by artificial abortion, which is caused by improper surgical treatment or the lack of strict disinfection and sterilization during the surgery.

2. Harm of birth canal

During the induced abortion operation, if the operation is not standardized or the doctor's skills are not up to standard, it will cause damage to the birth canal; the use of oxytocin can also cause damage to the birth canal.

3. Bleeding after childbirth

The causes of post-induced bleeding include uterine atony after delivery, placenta previa or partial detachment, and coagulation disorder; the patient herself suffers from bleeding diseases, hepatitis and other diseases; and post-induced bleeding caused by untimely induction of labor.

4. Amniotic fluid embolism

During an induced abortion, the cervical canal will slowly open and the cervical opening will dilate, so that some blood vessels are in an open state. Once strong uterine contractions increase the pressure in the uterine cavity and rupture the fetal membrane, some of the amniotic fluid may take the opportunity to enter the left ventricular blood vessels, causing amniotic fluid embolism.
