When should I have a B-ultrasound check during pregnancy?

Apart from getting married, the happiest moment for every woman is when she is pregnant. When women find out they are pregnant, they are often overjoyed. At the same time, women who are about to become mothers will be very concerned about the health and growth of their babies. Therefore, they will go to the hospital for B-ultrasound examination, which is currently the most commonly used examination technology. B-ultrasound can not only allow pregnant mothers to see the baby's appearance, but also check the baby's physical condition. It can diagnose whether the baby's growth and development is normal, and whether there are any problems with the placenta or the baby. But do you know how many times you should have an ultrasound during your pregnancy? Understanding this situation is very important for the health of the fetus.

Ultrasound should not be checked too early or too often; 3 times is the best.

From the principle of the instrument, B-ultrasound is ultrasonic conduction, without ionizing radiation. It emits a kind of sound wave, which is almost harmless to the human body.

However, this does not mean that ultrasound examinations can be performed at will throughout the pregnancy without any restrictions on time and frequency.

Experts point out that the number of B-ultrasound examinations a pregnant woman needs varies depending on the situation.

Under normal circumstances, expectant mothers should have B-ultrasound examinations about 3 times during pregnancy, and no more than 5 times.

The first check-up should be between 12 and 16 weeks of pregnancy. Through B-ultrasound examination, the doctor can clearly see the condition of the fetus in the womb, such as: breathing, movement, including large movements of the whole body, movements of the limbs, and even the small swallowing movements of the fetus. Doctors can also use B-ultrasound to observe whether the fetus has good tension. Normally, if the fetus is suffering from lack of oxygen in the womb, the fetal activity will be significantly reduced or disappear, and it is difficult to detect these changes without B-ultrasound.

The second check-up should be between 20 and 25 weeks of pregnancy. Checking during this time period can not only provide a comprehensive understanding of the safety of the fetus, but also detect fetal malformations at an early stage, such as fetal limb deformities, cleft lip and palate deformities, etc., and resolve the situation early.

The third check-up should be between 37 and 40 weeks of pregnancy. This examination can estimate the fetal weight based on the fetal head diameter and bone measurements, determine the fetal position, and predict whether the expectant mother can give birth naturally. Usually, natural delivery can be achieved with the fetus' head facing down, face toward the mother's spine, and back facing outward. At the same time, the position of the placenta is very important. The placenta should be located at the top at this time, preparing for the birth of the fetus.

Through the above understanding, we can clearly know that pregnant women cannot have B-ultrasounds as many times as they want during pregnancy. Too few times is not allowed, and too many times is even more unacceptable. Therefore, in order for the child to come into this world smoothly, pregnant women should follow the doctor's advice and have timely check-ups according to their own conditions to ensure the safety of mother and child.
